Miss Brazil Universe 2011 keeps crown despite topless photo

Priscila Machado, elected Miss Brazil Universe 2011 last Saturday under protest and controversies, will not lose the title because of a topless photos circulating in the internet.

“I have been a model for 11 years, and as everyone knows, a photo is considered ‘published’ only if authorized. I’ve never authorized it to be published, so it does not exist”, she explained.  Priscila also said that she never posed for such photo and has no idea of who took it, or when.

Previously, Boanerges Gaeta, director of Miss Brazil Universe, had told the press that that picture had been taken for a breast cancer campaign. When questioned about her different version of the story, he stepped back, saying that he got confused.

Gaeta affirmed that Machado will keep the title.

Not a favorite for the crown, Priscila was booed by the entire audience at the HSBC Auditorium when her name was announced as the winner. People also screamed “Peladona! Peladona!”, which means ‘naked woman’. She had to leave the building under heavy security protection.

The new Brazilian beauty queen will be the host contestant for Miss Universe 2011, which will happen in São Paulo, on September 12.

  1. perfect yellow journalism for Trump $$$$$$

  2. No crown for Brazil.

Realmente Decepcionante :(

  4. My bet she can make the Top 8 at MU2011. She got something fiery about her, a dark horse for sure.

  5. so what if she posed topless. miss universe is not a classy pageant like miss world. most former miss universes end up posing nude for playboy and other adult magazines anyway.

  6. Adele Santos says:

Of course Priscilla must know who took the photo and when, but as she herself said, she never allowed the photos to be officially ‘published’, so if she didn’t break any rule. I wonder why some people just can’t accept that she won the title.. I have asked lots of people here in my neighbord in São Paulo, simple people who are not beauty pageant experts, and they all find her very beautiful … she is representing these people also, she is representing the beauty of Brazilian women and she is a fighter who didn’t give up until she reached her goal. I’ve been watching pageants for years, and I’m sure ‘Pri’ is prepared to represent my country Brazil and to do well at the MU competition. I agree with the comment posted by Iamarquise, she does look like Natália Guimarães who was first runner-up in 2007. I’m Brazilian and I’m very happy with our Miss Brazil.

  7. What a joke! Instead of the judges picking someone with class this year especially being the host Country.

  8. Good for her… despite people not being happy she won and eventhough taken your photo topless is not something that many girls would do, in Brazil it is normal for women to walk topless in the beach. There is no such a thing as bad publicity you go girl… besides being the host country also now people know your name and thats a good start.

    • You are so correct!!! Brazilian beaches features some of the skimpiest swimswear in the world and women had no problems going topless and yet here they are criticizing Psricila because she posed for topless photos??! This is hypocrisy at its best.

  9. I pray for everyone here :) Good luck to Ms. Brazil

  11. Wow, she looks very much like Miss Brazil Universe 2007, the one who lost to Riyo Mori.

  12. And because she is the host, i think she will be in the top16..
but after this story, i say: NO Brazil this year..!

  13. Gaeta said: “It was a campaign against breast cancer”
Priscilla said: “It was taken without permission while I straightened the hair. I can not remember the photo”
The Family of Priscilla said : “was to compose a book of photos”
Priscilla’s friend said: “it is not her”.

Ok, after so many contradictions, feel free to say whether or not this title have any credit.

  14. Stay strong girl! :-)

  15. I’m not a bigot but I think they (Ms. Machado & Mr. Gaeta) are so hypocritical! Now they try to use an anti breast cancer campaign as a cover. It’s simply absurd!

  16. oh please Ms SP is in the mold of the usual old looking Ms Brazil- she is beautiful for the Brazilians but not for the rest of the world….

This years winner is great— she looks like a model and she has a portfolio to support her….. for the first time, in a longgg time- Ms Brazil is not the usual mold— she is fierce, sexy and smart— she is a MODEL like the supermodels from Brazil

Honestly the great Giselle or even Adriana will not win Ms Brazil if they do join- because they both look fresh and very international….. dont you guys get it? Brazil has the most stunning women- but they will not win Ms Brazil because the standard of beauty in Brazil (specially for pageant queens) is not updated!!!!

    • No, she’s not good

    • “Ms SP is the mold of the usual old looking Ms Brazil – she’s beautiful for the Brazilians but nor for the rest of the world”

Maybe you should become better informed before making this comment. Take a time and go for the topic “Miss GlobalBeauties Miss Brazil Universe 2011″, here in globalbeauties, in the same NEWS. Globalbeauties made a poll before the contest among 20 judges, 12 from Brazil and 8 foreigners. See the results. Forget the brazilian one (albeit is the same). See who FOREIGNERS elected as the best one.

The whole thing was unanimous, inside and outside Brazil, except for a stupid jury and a stupid and vain National Director.

I think you don’t know that much about the global taste on brazilian girls.

Actually, the point is: a Brazilian stupid jury and Gaeta Organization threw away any chances to Brazil in MU when they didn’t give the crown to Miss Sao Paulo, Rafaela Butarelli, the only one who could go for it agaisnt the foreigners, with a chance.

      Cheers.

    • And find out where Priscila Ramalho, the new Miss Brazil, was ranked ….

      • Regardless of anything that’s been said and done, this girl is gorgeous, she’ll make waves at Miss Universe. She’ll make at least the top 10. Don’t fret so much.

  17. Oh for heaven’s sake what’s all the fuss. There aren’t many professional models out there that haven’t had a risque photo or two taken. It’s what the industry demands these days. Had the winner been a popular choice, no one would have uttered a word. But then double standards are the name of the game in this day and age, aren’t they?

    • Exactly! If it was one of the favorites who actually won, there would be no fuss over her nude photos. Anything to get her dethroned because they didn’t like the outcome of the pageant. As I said before, then why bother even hold a pageant. Just appoint someone.

  18. Contrary to killing her chances at Miss Universe, this is exactly what Donald Trump craves….seedy publicity. I wouldn’t put it past him to get her into at least the first cut. Hey, I wouldn’t put it past him to have arranged her victory!

  19. OMG! You remind me of “Beauty without headspace matter”!! Geez, you all should know by now that with the advancement in technology, the gadgets we have at our disposal, a lot can be done to depict exactly what we want to see…at least I can! So, I believe Miss Brazil. Good Luck to her, great publicity stunt. She’s the hostess afterall. I’ve missed the opportunity to represent my state at Miss USA due to the same nonsense, but hey…you can’t bring a good woman down. I’m most certainly going down life’s alleys unflinchingly…

  20. Just a comment: this Boanerges is the guy who has been killng Miss Brasil Beauty Pageant for years. The guy has no interest in winning a MU contest, just that “his” miss – the “chosen” – wins Miss Brazil, this is his glory.

The guy is the only National Director who is part of his own jury every year.

  21. Doesn’t matter if she will loose the crown or not, all this buzz over this issue have killed any chances she could have in MU.

    • I am hoping that she will be one of Trump’s choices. In fact I hope she will do well at Miss Universe just to shut everybody up. I just don’t believe there are so much animosity directed at her.

    • that’s exactly the issue. All this buzz has killed her chances. She is not bad per sey, actually i just saw the pageant and she did stand out among the top 5.She is quite regal. But saying she doesn’t remember taking the photo and the Org wanting to twist it to a breast cancer campaign, Come on now. Don’t dupe us.

  22. Jáder Cordoval says:

    It is a shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  23. Anything to skewer the results that they want. But that is what happens in a beauty pageant, your favorite might not win. What is the point of holding a pageant, just appoint Miss Bahia (it seems everyone’s favorite) as Miss Brazil and be done with it. Priscila won the pageant fair and square. She is Brazil’s rep at Miss Universe and if she failed to make the cut, it would be in part because she lacked the support from her own countrymen. What a sad commentary.

    • Nope. People chanted ‘Bahia, Bahia’ because the other one was Priscilla. They would chant anyone who stood against Priscilla in the final.

The favourite, placed in 4th place, was Sao Paulo, with Amazonas (5th), Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará (all just Top 15) and Distrito Federal (Top Ten) coming close.

No one liked the unsympathetic Priscila and her arrogance. No one agreed with this result.

  24. She’d better resign from the title.
The problem is that Miss Bahia , the first runner-up, is not exactly a good replacement. It’s such a pity.

    • Exactly, Bahia is even worst, he has a round face. This contest was a shame. The only one with chances, no model, no plastics surgeries and with astonishing facial beauty, Miss SP, got a 4th place.

  25. atirem a primeira pedra quem nunca errou ou pensou de aLguém , deixa a moça em paz , assim todos ficaremos em paz , BOA SORTE A NOSSA MISS BRAZIL ,POIS ELA MERECEU VENCER.

  26. Is she a mannequin? That close up is beyond disturbing.

  27. She will stay, but Brazil is out of any TOP in MU! Just remember Australia 2007 and Russia 2009. Those girls where much better than Pricila Machado, specialy Sofia Rudieva.

  28. what a great start for publicity!

  29. Ka Puke Munoz says:

I want to see her crowning! and all the crowds booing at her! please upload

  30. I am sorry, but what kind of girl poses for a photo topless, and does not remember who took it or when?? This is pathetic. Hello, MUO, will you allow it?? Shame on Miss Universe!

    • MUO accepted Sofia Rudieva,Miss Russia 2009 and that was one of the biggest controveries EVER. I don’t care for that photo, actually, but if Miss Brasil’s rules say that delegates with naked photos can’t compete or win,it’s absolutely unfair. And saying that that picture was taken for a breast cancer campaign is ridiculous. I’ve never seen similiar campaigns with naked women. Shame on Miss Brasil.

    • I have a word to describe what kind of girl poses for a topless and does not remember it. I shall not write it because I am sure everybody knows the word.

    • I keep asking myself the same question…

    • I don’t understand the big fuss over this issue. Here in Philippines, it is common for girls to pose not only topless but completely naked and yet everyone seems just fine able to accept them. Posing topless has become a norm in my country.

    • i have to agree, miss america 1984 was stripped of her title because a nude photo shoot she did even if was before she was crowned miss ny and miss america.but it’s up to mr trump and paula to decide.
