A showbiz legend will honor the streets of the city of Prague, Czech Republic, at the end of the month: Claudia Cardinale, star of the silver screen, will be president of the jury during the upcoming Ceska Miss 2012 pageant (Czech Miss).
An Italian Tunisian actress, Cardinale appeared in some of the most prominent European films of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1957 she won a beauty pageant, “Most Beautiful Italian Girl in Tunisia”. The prizes included a trip to the Venice Film Festival, bringing Cardinale to the attention of the Italian movie industry.
Throughout the 1960s, she appeared in some of the most acclaimed Italian and European films of the period, including Luchino Visconti’s Rocco e i suoi fratelli (Rocco and His Brothers 1960) and Il Gattopardo (The Leopard, 1963), Philippe de Broca’s Cartouche (1963), Federico Fellini’s Otto e mezzo (8½ 1963), and Sergio Leone’s epic Once Upon a Time in the West (1968).
It will be the 7th edition of the Ceska Miss contest, established in 2006, and headed by Michaela Malacova (Miss Czech Republic 1991). Presently, Ceska Miss is the Czech Republic’s most prestigious beauty pageant.
The event will witness the crowning of three winners: Ceska Miss (to Miss Universe), Ceska Miss World (to Miss World) and Ceska Miss Earth (to Miss Earth). The 1st runner-up will go to Miss Supranational in Poland. Finals will take place on March 31st.
