2012 Winners - Courtesy Bb. Pilipinas
The 49th edition of Binibining Pilipinas was held on April 15, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City, Philippines. Thirty candidates competed for the three titles, and the winners were:
- Janine Marie Tugonon, Miss Universe Philippines – she will compete in Miss Universe 2012, in December. She is 22 years old, 1.73 m-tall, and hails from Bicolana. Janine participated in this same pageant last year and was the 1st runner-up;
- Nicole Schmitz, Binibining Pilipinas – International - she will compete in Miss International 2012, in China.
- Katrina Jayne Dimaranan, Binibining Pilipinas – Tourism – she will compete in Miss Tourism Queen International 2012, on September 28, in China;
The 1st runner-up, expected to represent the Philippines in Miss Supranational 2012, is Elaine Kay Moll, and the 2nd runner-up is Annalie Forbes.

VERY VERY VERY VERY DISSAPOINTED! I was really looking forward to Miss Universe this year.
I think Janine is very pretty, and she has an exotic look that will surely wow the judges at MU 2012…
I just watched binibining pilipinas 2012, and i can see why she won! i can see a “Mirriam Quiambao” in her.. She will have like almost 8 months to prepare.. And im so sure that she can turn heads at miss universe.. she is fighter! a girl that is just following her dreams.. and im sure those traits will give her more courage to fight for that miss universe crown! #teamPhilippines

Your countries representative to Miss International 2012 kind of reminds me of Karla Henry and Miss Universe representative reminds me of Margarita Moran.. im thinking Miss Philippines may take the Miss Universe 2013 title (next year) regardless whom it ever it maybe, bcuz im thinking Miss Universe 2014 will be held in the Philippines (every 20 yrs) just my thoughts.. mj is beautiful but ‘over rehearsed’. her final answer is a memorized answer for the question “what do you think is the biggest problem of our youth today?” (not the biggest problem of our world today) sorry… her vague answer is not relevant at all. “world peace” could have saved her. philippines can’t have another miriam quiambao in miss universe

Candidate # 26 “Angelee delos Reyes” — “I can show to the world that it’s more fun in the Philippines because I am Nurse by profession and I decided to stay in the Philippines, because we have a very beautiful geographical setting, which we can travel through land, air and seas. And I think that we have beautiful people and standing in front of you here right now is an example of the beautiful people of the Philippines.”

Janine is in her league of her own. She stands out from the all the already confirmeed Miss Universe 2012 delegates. The Miss Universe crown is as good as already in the bag of Philippines. Simply stunningly beautiful and intelligent beyond words.

Personally, I think the rep going to Miss Universe is fine as she is. I can see her keeping the Philippines streak going.
I was rooting for ELAINE MOLL, she’s a statuesque, beautiful face and skin tone, but it was her answer that slipped her the crown. I think Janine’s great asset for Miss Universe is her copycat catwalk from Shamcey. But I don’t think the world wanted to see the same catwalk repeatedly. Unless she opted for a plastic surgery (as Venezuelans do) and transforms her just to be noticed in Miss Universe. We’ll see.

MJ is the winner for me and the winner looks like what we were choosing during the years 2000-2009 that’s why we were not placing at all. The only one that I have made us proud was Venus. I really liked her from the start an she did us proud. As for the answers the winners did not give a good answer. I was cringing with the answer of the second runner up.

I don’t get it. Filipinos always bash the eventual winner but in any case, when their winner place, they would end up praising. The judges made the decision. Get over it. If you guys want a specific candidate then there shouldn’t be any pageant anymore. just appoint whoever you think is fitting for the role. If you consider yourself as guru then create your own and have a franchise yourself.
She’s fine. I prefered Patricia — who did not make the cut — but this gal is OK. She will likely make the top-15 in MU as a ‘Trump Selection’ because of fan interest.
But why does she need “transformation” if she has what it takes to represent the country and become the next Miss Universe??? Is BPCI sending another pony candidate for they have another plans in the making just like what they did with: (who’s that girl again they sent to Miss World 2010???)
