Leila Lopes, who is currently in the Dominican Republic as a special guest during the national competition, stated that she supports MUO owner Donald Trump and his decision of allowing transsexuals to compete in Miss Universe.
Referring to Jenna Talackova’s case, Lopes affirmed that “if she has been accepted to live legally as a woman, I am pleased with Trump’s decision”.
Lopes declared to Vivir!, a magazine of local newspaper Hoy, that she admires the beauty of Jennifer Hawkins and Ximena Navarrete. She said it’s false that she’s been whitening her skin (a rumor that hit the blogosphere last year). “I am proud of the color of my skin”.
She was asked about her opinion on the Dominican Republic hosting the Miss Universe pageant later this year. “There are several countries bidding to host, but this is a beautiful and safe country, with nice weather, marvelous food… all these elements make it deserving to host the competition” answered Lopes, who said her favorite spot in the country is Punta Cana.
Leila also said that her most heart-warming moments as Miss Universe were her homecoming in Angola, and being named goodwill ambassador by the government of Indonesia.
She won the Miss Universe title in Sao Paulo last September. Leila is currently 26 years old.

I know inside her conscience she just hates it & so do all other natural born women. Imagine they have to share a dressing room to dress & undress in front of a woman with a penis. Yuck.
I’m against the decision too, but natural-born women sharing a dressing room with a “woman with a penis” wouldn’t be an issue. The rule states that a transgender has to be a woman under their nations criteria. That would most likely mean that a woman would have to be a post-operation transgender to meet that criteria. You can be transgender, but no penises allowed.
The only beauty queen who supports that decision. Let’s respect and understand her for now, soon we will hear her real answer, the answer that will come from her heart once she has relinquished her sash and crown.

I’m old enough to remember the controversy about allowing black contestants to compete in some pageants. I heard some of the same nonsense I’m hearing now. “It was meant for…”, “this is an awful decision”, “God didn’t intend..”, “civilization as we know it will cease to exist”. LOL.
I applaud Miss Universe’s decision. Transgendered persons are some of the most discriminated human beings in the world today.

I wish Leila would’ve expressed other women that she finds beautiful, other than the typical Caucasian features of Jennifer Hawkins and Ximena. But I’m glad she said she wasn’t lightening her skin to try to match this outdated white ideal.

Very modern and smart to answer that. Transgenders who are legally recognzed as 100% females in their own country have all the legal rights to participate in their MU pageant. Whether you all like it or not .
