Amanda Vilanova crowned Janelee Chaparro
Janelee Chaparro (21), who competed as Miss Barceloneta in Miss World Puerto Rico 2011, will represent the caribbean island during the Miss World 2012 competition to be held in Ordos, China, in August.
Chaparro stands 1.68 m tall and was crowned at the Conrad Condado Plaza Hotel on April 26th. She was 1st runner-up to Amanda Vilanova and has been chosen due to the move in the date of the Miss World competition. Courtesy Primera Hora
The greatest thing of this is that Barceloneta is my hometown and is also one of the little towns of Puerto Rico. So this is amazing that a place with a population of 2,000 is about to conquer the world..And for us is the first time to have someone from Barceloneta to be a National Winner…I am so happy and proud of my little town but strong town…Arriba Magueyes, Barceloneta.

old-lady morley has already stated (as recent as just a few weeks ago) that height doesn’t matter in miss world. that being said, 5’5 was cute in the 50s and 60s. it’s not going to cut it in today’s pageant world.
