25-year old Isabella Agbor Ayuk (center), Miss Cross River State, was crowned Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2012 during the 25th anniversary of the event which took place in Benin City on May 5th.
Isabella, who stands 175 cm tall, had already competed in the national beauty pageant in 2004. She comes from Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State, and is a student at the University of Calabar. She will represent Nigeria at the Miss World 2012 pageant in Ordos, China, in August.
The 1st runner-up was Miss Rivers, Damiete Charles-Granville (right), who will travel to the USA to compete in the Miss Universe 2012 pageant in December; and the 2nd runner-up was Miss Abuja, Ifeoma Umeokeke (left), who will take part in the Miss Tourism Queen International competition to be held in China end of September.
What is ur bussiness, amibo u will not mind ur self.wether is 25 or not does nt concern u, wether she ws ur classmate, andthen! Ur such a jelouse person.
Kudos to SilverBird Entertainment for this project they have been doing since 1986. I have been following the pageant for quite some time and I want to praise the efforts of the Murray-Bruce’s’ family. They have done well.
This year’s edition was its 25th Anniversary which was a remarkable feat and I was privileged to watch it live but alas some questions need to be answered.
1) As this was its 25th Anniversary, it was expected that at least a couple of past MBGNs produced by Silverbird should be around but only the MBGN 2011 was around to crown her successor.
2) Since it started in 1986, how come in 2012, this is the 25th Anniversary.
3) The pageant is one if not the oldest in Africa but still Nigeria hasn’t done so well in the international beauty pageants – Angola and South Africa have done better. Presently, MBGN representatives don’t even make it to the next round. This calls to question the format for choosing the winner and other representatives.
4) I was expecting Agbani Darego Miss World 2011, to be around for the pageant at least to show support to Silverbird Entertainment.
5) Whilst the panel of judges were been introduced, it was only their names we heard not a brief description of who they were like models, fashion designers etc so what was the criteria for picking them?
6) The questions asked the 5 finalists were not strong IQ based questions like they are asked in international beauty pageants. This might be a reason while they don’t do too well during the preliminary interview sessions at the pageants.
7) I think Silverbird should revert to the system where the winner represents Nigeria in both Miss World and Miss Universe pageants. This worked for her in times past (Agbani Darego) and it is really working for South Africa now. It allows you gain experience from pageant which you use in the other pageant.
8) Since Miss World (now) gives points for winners in various Miss World competitions like – sports, model, talent, beauty with a purpose etc why doesn’t Nigeria’s representative take advantage of this to win points? Most Nigerian contestants don’t participate in these mini competitions whilst in camp. It was even an advantage before where the winner automatically advances to the finals. The person who did the best for Nigeria in this is Adaeze Igwe who came 2nd in Miss World Sports.
9) The greatest blunder of all almost happened when MBGN 2011 almost crowned the first runner up (Miss Rivers) as Queen instead of Miss Cross River; did she not hear the result well?
I believe if Silverbird looks closely at this and many more they will be able to give Nigerians more to celebrate in future. Cheers Silverbird!!!! Congratulations.
How can Isabel claim she is 25years??????. we were classmates in unical and we finished almost 7years ago. she is not a smart girl and doesnt deserve to represent Nigeria. this whole stuff is a cheat!
hey i luv mbgn world she,s worth it. culdnt make to compete myself bcos of exams n wuldnt nxt yr cos i’ll be taking my finals. goodluck to our queen we’re all proud of you and may your reign be better than your predecessor. goodluck at miss world your intelligent and i know cos i saw u on stv. @ global beauties thank you for this post and promoting our queen. gratias. @ stv lets make competing age 27 please guy bruce it will really help with more girls o. luv u all at silverbirds. viva NIGERIA!!!!!!!!
Some pageants have age restrictions and most consider 26 – upwards too old.
OMG all three of them are LOVELY…
Hope they all do well when they represent Nigeria at the various international pageants.
I think d judges shouldn’t have judged with the use of English. Afterall, most contestants in d world don’t don’t express themseves with English but through an interpreter. We need a person with all d necessary qualities especially beauty N̶̲̥̅̊ intelligence not English language afterall, Venezuelans speak their native language even in beauty pageants! I honestly do not think our Miss Nigeria will take us far come August.
what a silly thing to say Chinaemerem- is English not Nigeria’s official language??? Did Agbani not speak English when she won the Miss World contest? Did Chinenye Ochuba not speak English when she reached the Miss World finals in 2002? Did Anita Uwagbale not speak English when she reached the Miss World finals in 2004? In fact, poor English was one of Sylvia Nduka’s flaws in 2012 and if you notice, she is the only contestant for whom Miss World did not release an interview with the judges video last year. Your assertion that ‘most contestants in d world don’t don’ express themselves with English but through an interpreter’ is wrong- most contestants today actually speak English. Perhaps a bit of English lesson might be good for you too, considering your poor spelling. You may not like Isabella Ayuk, fair enough but these days, Miss World is no longer just about beauty- the idea is to give all contestants an equal chance regardless of their race or nationality, which I think is a good thing. It is also about beauty with a purpose and as I understand it, Isabella has been involved in a lot of charity work, unlike most of the other MBGN 2012 contestants, which is probably why she won the crown
Miss Universe NIGERIA is gorgeous!!!
Congratulations to the winners. So Miss Universe 2012 will be in the USA?
I like so much the girl with the blue dress!!! I love her!
True pedro
uy la verdad no es discriminacion ni racismo, pero estas señoritas no estan nada bonitas para estos eventos, es verdad que hay muchas mujeres hermosas sin necesidad de cirugias, pero estas chicas ni con cirugias creo que llegen a la final.
miss universe nigeria looks stunning… will they have another finalist since agbani? lets hope so!
Miss Universe 2012 in USA??
The one who won tourism queen is beautiful and should have gone to Miss Universe.
Miss Rivers should have won. Miss Abuja is much prettier.
Beauty pageants are not just about beauty- it is also about eloquence, stage presence and having a purpose- only Miss Cross River matched these requirements- The girl in blue (Miss Abuja) is evidently beautiful but what is the point of beauty if you can’t speak well??? She bungled the final question! I think Isabelle won because the organisers thought she would have a much better chance at Miss World; she is not a bad looking person either. My favourite was Miss Rivers- I am glad she is being sent to miss universe. I think Miss Abuja will also do well at Miss Tourism
