The 25th anniversary of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) competition is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 5th at the Best Western Homeville Hotel in Benin City. The winner will represent Nigeria in the Miss World 2012 competition in Ordos, China; and the 1st runner-up (MBGN Universe) will compete in the Miss Universe pageant scheduled for December; and the 2nd runner-up (MBGN Tourism) will travel to China, for the Miss Tourism Queen International contest.
MBGN has been in charge of sending their winners to these prestigious competitions. Under this organization, Agbani Darego won in 2001 the first and only Miss World title for Nigeria.
Meet the 2012 contestants here

Nigerian Agbani Darego was crowned Miss World 2001
miss adamawa does have “dat real african look” and that’s why in my opinion she is the most beautiful of the contestants
The gals are okay ,though some of them are just terrible like Miss oyo[wtf!]. Adamawa has dat real african look. Abuja is beautiful. I wish the gals luck. May the best win. When wud be have anoda Agbani???
What do you mean ‘Adamawa has dat real african look’??? Do you mean that African women with ‘dat real African look’ are not beautiful??? Why can’t africans learn to appreciate the beauty and diversity of African women rather than constantly criticizing the courage that young women take to come out and contest for these sort of pageants??? Pageants are not only about looks but also about what is inside. Alexandra Mills was not what you could call conventional beauty but she was clearly a standout- that is why she won Miss World. Miss India 2008 was not a beauty but clearly she was an intelligent lady- that is why she ended up first runner-up to Miss World. Miss Philippines 2011 was no beauty but she clearly had a quality that landed her as first runner up- just to show you that these pageants are no longer always about beauty.
and i agree with john that Nigeria gave us one of the most beautiful miss worlds ever. She was outstanding
Miss Ogun and Niger….
miss ABUJA is the only strong competitor here!!!
Surely not! Ekiti, Kebbi, Kaduna, Borno, Ogun….there are so many other compelling candidates….
I agree with John- at first I was pretty disappointed when I saw the photos and then I later realised that the photographer did a horrible job on the photographs- he should be sacked. I actually think the 2012 group contesting for the pageant is the strongest the organisers have had in years and most of these ladies are actually pretty. I think though that it is a toss up between Bayelsa, Rivers, Kebbi, Imo and Gombe with Kaduna being something of a dark horse. Adamawa is another one to watch out for. Abuja is most people’s pick but I am just not getting her- I don’t think she is that strong a competitor. Rivers remains me a lot of Agbani.
Time for another spectacular winner from the country that gave us one of the most beautiful Miss Worlds of all time…..
The 2012 group is very strong!
