Puerto Rican Vanessa de Roide won the Nuestra Belleza Latina competition, a reality-show produced by American network Univision aimed at finding a new face for the TV channel which caters to the latin market in the United States.
During weeks, several beauties were judged by Osmel Sousa, Julian Gil and Lupita Jones, and endured a series of competitions in order to win the coveted crown.
24-year old Vanessa De Roide hails from Carolina, and stands 175 cm in height. She is not new to the pageant scene, having competed in Miss Earth 2005 where she was a Top 8 finalist, won a competition organized by Fox Sports, and was 1st runner-up in Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2011.
De Roide was supposed to represent the Island at the Miss Intercontinental event in Spain later this year but now as Nuestra Belleza Latina, another representative will have to be chosen.
The 1st runner-up was Setareh Khatibi from California, who is of Mexican and Iranian descent; and the remaining finalists were Karol Scott (Born in Venezuela but now resides in New York) and Nataliz Jimenez (From New Jersey, of Dominican descent)
According to its website, the Nuestra Belleza Latina pageant has the biggest cash prize of any beauty contest in the world: A whooping $250,000.00 USD, and the honor if being the new face of Univision, as well as a cover in Cosmopolitan magazine.
Created in 2007, Nuestra Belleza Latina is a competition for US citizens of latino heritage, as well as for latino beauties who have immigrated to the United States (or are under a student visa). The pageant is available on TV or internet only to US territories.
