Puerto Rican Vanessa de Roide won the Nuestra Belleza Latina competition, a reality-show produced by American network Univision aimed at finding a new face for the TV channel which caters to the latin market in the United States.
During weeks, several beauties were judged by Osmel Sousa, Julian Gil and Lupita Jones, and endured a series of competitions in order to win the coveted crown.
24-year old Vanessa De Roide hails from Carolina, and stands 175 cm in height. She is not new to the pageant scene, having competed in Miss Earth 2005 where she was a Top 8 finalist, won a competition organized by Fox Sports, and was 1st runner-up in Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2011.
De Roide was supposed to represent the Island at the Miss Intercontinental event in Spain later this year but now as Nuestra Belleza Latina, another representative will have to be chosen.
The 1st runner-up was Setareh Khatibi from California, who is of Mexican and Iranian descent; and the remaining finalists were Karol Scott (Born in Venezuela but now resides in New York) and Nataliz Jimenez (From New Jersey, of Dominican descent)
According to its website, the Nuestra Belleza Latina pageant has the biggest cash prize of any beauty contest in the world: A whooping $250,000.00 USD, and the honor if being the new face of Univision, as well as a cover in Cosmopolitan magazine.
Created in 2007, Nuestra Belleza Latina is a competition for US citizens of latino heritage, as well as for latino beauties who have immigrated to the United States (or are under a student visa). The pageant is available on TV or internet only to US territories.

Brazilians are also latinos but they don’t participate. Because the pageant is owned by Univision, which is a Spanish speaking network.
In Philippines you speak no Spanish. En las Filipinas ya nadie habla español.

La mitad de las candidatas eran de Puerto Rico, y otron monton de Mexico. Con lo de la votacion del publico hay mucha injusticia en este concurso porque candidatas bellas de paises que no tienen una comunidad grande en EU se quedan eliminadas en las primeras rondas, y los jueses siempre les comemtan “esque no te supiste ganar el carin~o del publico”.
De eso se trata el negocio. Algunos fanaticos piensan que es un concurso abierto para chicas de todos los paises, pero no es asi… es solamente para ciudadanas americanas, con algun rasgo latino, o inmigrantes. Entonces por eso entran tantas puertorriquenas (a fin de cuentas son estadounidenses y por lo general son lindas). Pero paises con comunidades muy pequenas en EEUU como Panama o Costa Rica, por ejemplo, jamas tendrian chance de ganar este concurso.
eso es mentira porque el ano pasado la que gano es de guatemala y ni casi sabia hablar espanol y como quiera gano el voto es el que cuenta y aqui no hay tantos guatemantecos para que esa nina haya ganado y como quiera fue la ganadora……

ESTA COMPTENCIA ES COMO UN REALITY. DURANTE 3 MESES LAS MISSES COMPITEN Y VAN ELIMINADO, HASTA QUEDAR ESTAS CUATRO HERMOSAS MUJERES. PIENSO QUE LA ORGANIZACION DEBERIA CAMBIAR LA FORMA DE SELECCION FINAL, PORQUE ES A TRAVES DE VOTACION DE LA AUDIENCIA QUE SE HACE LA SELECCION FINAL. ENTONCES DE QUE VALE LA OPINIION DURANTE ESOS 3 MESES DE LUPITA, OSMEL Y JULIAN. DE QUE VALE QUE UNA CHICA COMO KAROL HALLA GANADO LA MAYOR CANTIDAD DE RECORD. SI SE SIGUEN BASANDO SOLAMENTE EN LA SELECCION POR VOTACION DE LA AUDIENCIA MUY DIFICILMENTE LOS VENEZOLANOS VEREMOS ALGUNA VEZ SU CANDIDATA TRIUNFAR, YA QUE LA COMUNIDAD LATINA VENEZOLANA RESIDENCIDA EN LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS ES UNA DE LAS MAS PEQUEÑA EN POBLACION. PARTICULARMENTE ESTE ANO LA COMPETENCIA FINAL DEBIO HABER SIDO ENTRE VANESSA Y LA VENEZOLANA KAROL. MUY BELLA VANESSA Y MERECIDO SU TRIUNO, PERO MAS BELLA AUN KAROL QUE DURANTE LOS TRES MESES ESTUVO EL EL TOP Y GANO LA MAYOR CANTIDAD DE RETOS.
no es sierto porque karol estuvo en peligro de eliminacion unas cuentas veces la cual vanessa nunca estuvo en peligro bien merecido que vanessa haya ganado……….
