Blogger Eddy Martin, in his Yahoo! Column “Lo que te Perdiste” (What you missed) wrote about the possible romantic relationship between Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza and pageant owner and real estate mogul Donald Trump.
Trump, who has nothing but words of praise for Dayana, selected her as a contestant in the recently ended NBC Show “Celebrity Apprentice”. She was also invited to judge the Miss USA competition in Las Vegas. According to some of Dayana’s followers in the social networks there are comments that Trump sees her as “more than a friend” and that they are engaged in a love äffair which would explain his preferential treament toward her.
Other posters, more daring, are even inclined to say that Stephania Fernandez’ victory in 2009 (a back to back for Venezuela) could have been a gift from Trump to Dayana, to prove his love.
Meanwhile, Dayana, who usually stays aways from these kind of comments, faced the rumours and denied, via twitter, that she is involved romantically with Trump.

Dayana is beautiful! Trump invited her on the show and kept her on the show to get more viewers. I usually didn’t watch the show with my husband but when Dayana was on the show, I watched her. She proved that she is a nice person and the title of Miss Universe 2008 was given to the right person. Are they having an affair or not? Nobody knows. Dayana is smart and nice, enough to make people love her or hate her. Of course, Trump chose to love her. Most women on the show hated her because she receives lots of attentions more than them. Therefore, they are jealous and determined to kick her out of the show.
Dayana once said on the show that her current boyfriend is rich in his heart, she definitely know who deserves her love. Dayana, it doesn’t matter who you choose, don’t go for a married man. He must be single. Choose a man not because he rich but because he loves you!

Dayana was shining on stage that night in Nha Trang, Vietnam, in 2008. However, I don’t think she is the brightest MU out there. She is beautiful but not doesn’t look as classy like Jennifer Hawkins or Natalie Glebova. Just a personal opinion, no offence to her fans. But in her defence, there is no need to spread rumours.

So much denial can only mean it can be true. He has a history of infidelity and look at how he praises Dayana and is around him so much. She has no shame if this is true.

Apparently so. Now was Miss Universe 2008 rigged as well…? Considering that Miss Colombia consistently got the highest scores and yet still ended up in second place….
Yes, that was her before Miss Universe 2008, but as someone has mentioned, she wasn’t the only national winner who was invited. Second, what do you mean by ‘as well’?, I don’t know of any MU/MUSA pageant that has been rigged. Third your suggestion that her victory was undeserved is absurd and cattily unfair: she was always a favorite; there are numerous instances of MU winners who did not get the highest scores in preliminary competitions(Venezuela has, in multiple occasions, dominated the competition only to end up as 1st runner up) and third, if you’re a fan you probably know the final decision is not based on the preliminary scores: once the top 5 is selected they all start from zero.
Only a select few girls were invited and it’s obviously favoritism. The MUO has been very deceptive lately.
Puerto Rico´s Ingrid Rivera was one of the invited ones. She even met Trump on several other occasions before Miss Universe 2008.
And where did she place? She didn´t even make Top 15 although she was one of the top favs.
With all due respect, if you check the scores and rankings of the semi-finals during the years that they were telecasted, there was only one year in which Venezuela dominated the competition but didn’t win: 1992.
Just because Ingrid Rivera didn’t place, does not mean things were fair. She was clearly a favorite to win the crown and no surprise she was invited. For whatever reason, she didn’t make the cut but she was clearly a favorite.
But KL, I think Jason meant not only Venezuela but other countries as well… They are so many cases where the country which scored highest in the semifinals or preliminaries did not win the crown (i.e. Brazil 1992, Colombia 1994, Venezuela 1993, Brazil 2007, Dominican Rep. 2009 and even as far back as to USA in 1979 and 1983!!). Dayana’s win was not rigged… it was the final answer which won her the crown (Taliana’s answer was 3rd at best..)
Now I really think so! And so was Miss Universe 2009??? IDK but Trump showed favoritism toward Dayana at Celebrity Apprentice, BIG TIME!!! So I wouldn’t be surprised if this mess turns out to be true.

Chilton, yes that was during Miss USA 2008. But there were also other national titleholders present at Miss USA 2008 not only Dayana such as Puerto Rico and Ukraine for example.
