Miss Swaziland Ayanda Dube, announcing her participation in the Miss Universe pageant in December
The Miss Swaziland organizer has decided to skip on participating on the Miss World competition. Instead, the winner will attend the American-owned Miss Universe pageant.
According to the Swazi Observer, a letter was sent by Miss Swaziland organizers to the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture offices notifying them of the new developments.
Reigning Miss Swaziland Ayanda Dube said missing out of the Miss World contest was a “blessing in disguise” as her portfolio which she was to submit was not competitive. Ayanda is now preparing for the Miss Universe contest.
Dube also said that she is not sad for not going on to the Miss World competition in China. “Reems never really said I will take part in the Miss World contest. They only told me that I will take part in an international contest which they did not specify,” she said.
She will soon meet with Reems to discuss her participation at the Miss Universe contest. This marks the return of Swaziland to the international competition after 18 years. Its last contestant attended the pageant celebrated in Manila, Philippines, in 1994.
Swaziland can only return IF there is actually a pageant to attend. LOL.
So far there is no evidence that a MU 2012 edition will even happen. Tea party in the hotel lobby, anyone?
miss morley must be really upset hahahaha
As much as I love seeing more African countries participating, still I wonder what are the chances of a back-to-back win for Africa, and for a returning country (or first timer).
Happy to see the African nations coming back to Miss Universe bit this is purly about money and the MUO trying to keep their African Franchises happy. Everyone knows that Black women no matter the language and nationality are always juged if they dont look asteticly pleasing to another race, ie-Europeans and Asians. I truly hope that these nations coming back to MU will strongly prepare their delegates and be logical in their selections. I love Leila very much as the new MU but after seeing most of her magazine covers, it is clear that she is making money and covers because she asticely makes other European men notice her. She also looks very American or British. I just dont want these delegates hoping for the best and then not placing at all. Even if she is completly beautiful. And lastly, I know what I have said may be hurtful, but it has a lot of truths. Im still waiting to see the major latin american and south american countries to send an Afro-Latina and/or a Indo American girl and not a latin version of a white woman. I.E. Puerto Rico, Colombia, Brasil, and Mexico. No offense to anyone. Just expressing my opinion. Happy Pageant.
Very bad decision……..
Great news!! Welcome to Miss Universe again.
She should have gone to Miss World.
