In 2011 the Miss USA pageant was chosen by GB the best national pageant in the world (See the special page of the 2011 GB Awards). Perhaps it was the best pageant overall last year, period. It was nearly perfect, from hosting, to new elements, to the music and final results. The only thing that prevented it from being perfect was the non-sense “fans’ scores”, which we honestly hope will be gone. Fact is: expectations for this Sunday’s show are high.
This year’s group of candidates is one of extremes. If overall it cannot be considered one of the most competitive groups in history (it’s actually far from it), at least the beauties who are indeed competitive, although few, are truly top-of-the-line, which might ensure a great show.
GB has no intention to guess who the top 16 will be (our crystal ball is broken, sorry!), but rather to publish a list containing the women we believe SHOULD be up there. Of course we know that there are several factors which might affect the judges and MUO’s choices, from candidates’ professionalism and behavior, to state directors’ lobbies and whatever interests are behind such choices. Trump picks themselves, can be very odd and hard to get for us mortals!
But, if logic applies, the group of semi-finalists should not be much far from the one you will see below.
We begin with our G7, the 7 girls we think have all it takes to end the night crying and shouting with a crown on their heads:
The G7: Miss USA 2012 should be among these beauties
Nevada – Georgia – Texas – Michigan – California – Ohio – Oklahoma
This elite group has record-holding number of victories Texas (9) and California (6), as well as three states trying to win the Miss USA title for the first time: Nevada, Georgia, and Oklahoma. Michigan has done it three times, Ohio twice.
Nevada‘s Jade Kelsall hails from Las Vegas, has done everything perfectly and is amazingly beautiful. The host-city of Miss USA 2012 has everything to throw a big celebration on Sunday night, after all, she’s the one to beat. Statuesque Jasmyn “Jazz” Wilkins of Georgia could finally take home the so-dreamed and awaited crown. Her flawless beauty and elegance are hard to beat; Texas will try to go for a 10th victory with Brittany Booker, perhaps the best prepared candidate of the bunch. She seems to be the favorite on social networks and pageant-related forums; Michigan‘s Kristen Danyal carried the greatest gown in the competition beautifully. A 4th Miss USA crown for Michigan could be on its way; how about a back-to-back win for California? The sexiest girl in this year’s pageant, Natalie Pack could easily pull it; after the Presentation Show, Ohio‘s Audrey Bolte jumped to the top of the lists of most pageant observers. She is Sarah Jessica Parker elevated to perfection; and then there’s Anne Hathaway’s look-alike Lauren Lundeen, Miss Oklahoma. Too avant-garde for a pageant maybe, and with below average runway skills, however, stunning and fashionable.
Who would you bet on?
Expect them to shine: 9 beauties to keep an eye on this Sunday night
Maryland – Lousiana – Illinois – Alabama – New Jersey – Rhode Island – Tennessee – New York – Delaware
It would not be a surprise to see one of them in the Top 5 (or Top 4), especially Maryland. If Delaware makes the cut, she will be the first woman from her state to do so in 61 years of Miss USA.
The possible surprises
Indiana – South Carolina – Virginia – Colorado – Kentucky
The 6 above-mentioned candidates are capable of pulling a surprise and landing on the Top 16 (reminding you that one of them could be virtually anyone, because of the public voting).
Long-shots
North Carolina – Mississipi – Kansas – South Dakota – Florida – Arizona – West Virginia – Utah – Montana – Washington – New Mexico – Maine – Connecticut – Pennsylvania – Oregon – Missouri

Congrats I think you did a GREAT JOB, because you have LOTS of my favs there.
MY top 5- 1- Ohio, 2- Georgia, 3- Texas, 4- Louisian, 5- Alabama.
I think this year has a very strong group with quality girls well deserving of the crown.
I personally feel that these beauties did a great job and I would love to see them in the top 16. Based on the preliminary, these listed delegates will represent the USA extremely well at Miss Universe and lets face it, the USA has had a 15 year drought of not being #1 at MU.
Alabama(sexy, pretty eyes)
)
Arizona(technique was on point, pretty eyes)
Alaska (loved her energy and humor)
Georgia (please don’t look down if you make the cut, loved her gown choice)
Conn.( I wanted to see more of her after the exercise video, prettiest blonde) Illinois(honestly she looks like my sister
Florida (surprised me, very pretty, nice energy)
Louisiana (beautiful)
Maryland(made me say wow, loved her gown-reminded me of Miss Ukraine 2011′s gown)
Nevada(stunning and racially ambiguous)
Texas(another Crystal Stewart!! Werk hun T!)
Michigan(reminds me of Nina Dobrev from Vampire Diares, stunning!)
New York (beautiful, dress was fierce)
My likes and I wish them well are:
Oklahoma, DC(nice energy, but this is Miss USA not Miss America), RI,
Ohio(gown was to much), Minn.(poor gown choice), Mississippi, New Mexico,
My final thoughts on this year’s edition:
I some what agree with Global Beauties on the delegates. I am personally expecting a lot and hoping for a fantastic production that will hopefully be the format for years to come. I enjoyed last years production. And was very proud, I am originally from California (born and raised) and fell in aww of Alyssa.
Also, I would like to see the judges scores come back. The fans scores are distracting. Additionally, the traditional calling of the delegates that made the top 16 would be nice to hear and not by regions of the country. I would truly enjoy seeing one day a Top 20, Top 12, and Top 6 for Miss Universe and Miss USA. To many beautiful faces always go by unseen and unheard, year after year.
This edition of Miss USA hit close to home because I know of some of these delegates prior experiences with other state pageants. It is always great to see a delegate that has tried over and over and over and finally achieving a state title and the ticket to Miss USA. Some of them go through so much financially, emotionally and physically. And in the end its always the delegate that wants it the most, the journey is tough but the strong always prevail.
I am hoping the best turn out for Misses Texas, Nevada, Georgia, Maryland and Michigan. These delegates have impressed me the most and made me say or think: WOW, Stunning, Fierce, WERK!, and “heffa! you better walk down those down stairs, yes HUN T, YES!!! Walkk Girl!” and/or I heard Rupaul’s “Cover Girl put the bass in yo walk” as the sashayed by.
Good Luck to all the delegates, thank you for keeping pageantry alive and thriving.
Happy Pageant!
I love SOUTH DAKOTA, NEVADA, OKLAHOMA, GEORGIA and ALASKA, five states who still haven´t won the Miss USA. I hope that one of these states win the Miss USA 2012, these five delegates are BEAUTIFUL.

Love your choices, but I must disagree on last year’s pageant. I did not like the new format of group eliminations or the selecting of the Top 16 from geographic regions. Hope they don’t do this again!
We thought it was the BEST thing (geographic eliminations were awesome) and wish they would carried it on to Universe, but didn’t happen. The current format is stale. The eliminations were suspenseful too. Wish they’d stick to the new formula, but fans prefer the traditional, so for sure they will go back to the usual format.
I agree with you, with last year format, there were no surprise, we all knew the result, so please don’t do that again. And I love the format at Miss Universe, Top 16, Top 10 and then Top 5.
@Ken
They did not choose top 16 from geographic regions. They simply grouped the candidates and announce the top 16 from those regions. You know, it’s a way to refresh the format. If I recall correctly, the number of semifinalist is not equal among regions. There were 2 from the Midwest (Missouri and Indiana), 3 from the WEst (California, Utah, Hawaii),3 from the Southwest (Texas, Arizona, New Mexico), 3 from the Northeast (New York, Maine, Maryland) and 5 from the Southeast (Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina). You see, they just tried to make the announcement more fresh.
Come on… Miss Alabama has the best body.. She is gorgeous!
I think Alabama is deserving of the crown tonight.
Texas…………..
