“Quinta” Miss Venezuela attacked with explosives

The Miss Venezuela homebase was attacked on Monday Evening/GLOBOVISION

An unexpected situation made international news on Monday evening, as the Quinta Miss Venezuela (the Miss Venezuela house) was suddenly attacked with explosives thrown by criminals.

The attack, which took place around 9:30 pm, only harmed part of the exterior facade of the building located at Colina de los Caobos in Caracas. According to a spokesperson for the organization, only security and maintenance personnel were inside the house at the moment.

The police is now conducting an investigation to determine who was responsible for this attack and the reason behind it.  News sources report that fortunately, nobody was hurt or affected.

The Miss Venezuela organization released the following statement regarding the incident:

“The Miss Venezuela organization condemns this act and wishes to make of public knowledge, that this situation will not affect in any way the activities of la Quinta Miss Venezuela, nor the realization of the Miss Venezuela pageant which has been held for over 30 years, contributing to a successful proyection of the venezuelan woman, and which constitutes one of the most awaited television shows in Venezuela as well as in other countries in the region”.

The Quinta Miss Venezuela is the home base to all the preparation, rehearsals and logistics of the world-famous beauty competition.  Headed by Osmel Sousa, venezuelan beauty queens have managed to bring hundreds of international beauty titles to Venezuela during the past decades.\

Irene Esser, reigning Miss Venezuela, will compete in the Miss Universe pageant in December.
