And Puerto Rico already has its representative for Miss Universe 2013. Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2013 was crowned on Wednesday night in San Juan, and the winner is Monic Marie Perez, Miss Arecibo.

Miss Arroyo,  Génesis Mary Dávila Pérez, was the 1st runner-up; Miss Cayey, Desirée del Río was the 2nd runner-up; Miss Mayagüez, Cristina Franceschini, finished as 3rd runner-up; Miss Orocovis, Amanda Ortiz Rosado, completed the top 5, as 4th runner-up.

  1. Please do not post that last comment, it is completely untrue, I never even met the girl, thought she was someone else. Thanks.

  2. I know her from new York when she lived here, she is a huge drinker and has dabbled in recreational drugs. Very conceited also. I think her past will come back to haunt her…she had pics of her throwing up on her fb, doing body shots, and passed out!

  3. Why is the Miss Universe 2013 is not on her head already she hot stunning q bella mi reina !!!!

  4. Miguel Almeida says:

Miss Universe is making all pagents crazys they didnt have the Miss Universe 2012 and many countrys was already chosen the representatives for Miss Universe 2013. LOOL This is insain! LOL

  5. BEAUTIFUL! Once again, the judges were smart and selected the most beautiful candidate. Puerto Rico will have two excellent chances to bring home the Miss Universe crown – 2012 and 2013.

  6. I do not like her…..not at all….sorry!

  7. Not BAD!…She has the Angelina Jolie Aurora…….

    • Your right!!! I was trying 2 figure out who she looks like…

    • Aurora? Jajajjajaja what is that ?

  8. No se como no le dieron la corona a Arroyo.

  9. JOHN ALEXANDER says:

BRETT, LET ME EXPLAIN YOU THE PROCEDURE. THE FACT THAT MISS ARECIBO WAS MENTIONED AS THE 16TH FINALIST ELECTED BY THE FAN’S VOTES DOES NOT MEAN THAT SHE WASN’T ALSO ONE OF THE TOP 15 ONES SELECTED BY THE JUDGES. BECAUSE MISS ARECIBO RECEIVED THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF VOTES BY THE FAN, SHE HAD TO BE MENTIONED AS THE WINNER OF THIS PART OF THE COMPETION AS THE 16TH FINALIST BY THE RULES EVEN IF SHE WAS NUMBER ONE CHOSEN BY THE JUDGES. IN THIS CASE THE CANDIDATE THAT WAS THE 16tH HIGH SCORE BY THE JUDGES HAD TO BE MENTIONED AS ONES OF THE TOP 15TH BECAUSE ARECIBO ALREADY HAD WON BY THE FAN’S VOTES.

    • if monic made the semi’s in the first position because of the judges’ scores, or whatever position, then the other 15 ALSO made it to the semi’s because of the judges’ scores, and the fan vote didn’t count for anything. the 16th girl got a free pass into the semi’s, and the fan favorite vote wasn’t necessary.

after the 15 are selected, the NEXT girl with the most fan votes, who did NOT make the top 15 on her own, is the one who gets to be the 16th semi-finalist, no matter what position she placed on the judges scorecards. THAT’S a fan favorite.

  10. BRENDA LIZ LOPEZ 2.0!!!!

  11. She is very pretty, but if you have a chance to see pictures of the first runner up, you will be baffled as to why she is not the winner. Genesis Davila is gorgeous, simply stunning. She just happens to be black, and as a Latin man I can tell you, many countries still have a problem sending a black representative to international competitions despite sizable black communities in those communities. They are (yes Honduras, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, Brazil and Guatemala I am talking about you). Is like they don’t want a the world to know they have black people in those countries. By the way, for those who may think I am black and that’s why I am posting this comment, I am not. If I were, I would be very proud, the same I am proud of being gay, Latin (mixed Indigenous and white), and open minded.

    • I am black, and I think that the best girl won, miss Arecibo, miss Aroyo is stunning too but miss Arecibo is more beautiful. And you are right when you say that a lot of countries in America latina don’t want to be represented by a black woman, fortunately there were some evolutions about this for last years, because Honduras was represented last year by a black girl, in 2004 ( I am not sure) Guatemala was represented by a black girl too.
But unfortunately racism still continues in beauty pageant like in Brazil.

    • I truly agree with you, my friend. I’m not black either (I’m Meditteranean European) but for the very first time watching Puerto Rican pageant I’ve noticed that 4 out of the 5 black delegates were gorgeous (Arroyo, Corozal, Loiza, Jayuya- the other was Trujillo Alto but no so beautiful-). Why in this pageant they are so racist? Puerto Rico never sent a black delegate (the only one Latin country and the point is that it has bigger black population than, for example, Ecuador which sent many times black delegates. In my opinion: 4th RU the not even top 16 Jayuya (a black stunner with also native American characteristics like Pocahontas), 3rd RU the 4th RU Orocivis (the only non black I choose coincidentally -cause the 4 black out of 5 were stunners), 2nd RU the top 16 Corozal, 1st RU the not even in top 16 Loiza and Miss Puerto Rico definitely Arroyo with the excepetional beauty and great all natural body. Again the common pageant surgery girl won. Why Puerto Rico and Brazil always eleminate the black or mixed black beauty?

  12. Gorgeous! Will make a strong performance! Fantastic group of girls in MPU!

  13. sorry, but she looks old and no pretty enough..

  14. mmmmmmmmmm me gustan asi hasta el momento :BOLIVIA .PUERTO RICO. VENEZUELA………..lo bueno es q latino america va con todo para 2013!!!!!!!

  15. WOW!!! I CAN SEE MISS UNIVERSE 2013 ALREADY! NOW DONALD TRUMP CAN CROWN THIS GIRL A.S.A.P! NO MISS UNIVERSE 2012!

  16. WOW AFTER THE WONDERFUL BODINE KOEHLER,ANOTHER PERECT BEAUTY AND STUNNER THAT MAY WIN MISS UNIVERSE .

  17. I hope we see more of the 1st runner up…perhaps winning Miss World Puerto Rico and winning Miss World.

  18. Pretty..reminds me of an american-latina actress. The actress who played Selenas mom in ”Selena”…..

  19. bellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa arecibo era la mejor y la mas completa ;-)

  20. muy orgulloso de arecibo, bellaaaaaaaaaaaa era la mejor :-D

  21. I think she is the weakest Miss Puerto Rico in years

    • A very big no says:

Thank you! And so do I. She looks old, just to start with, and her face is harsh and certainly not pretty at all. Saw some pics of her where she looked middle-aged! Definitely by miles the weakest Miss Puerto Rico ever since the one back in 2007!

    • You guys should see her on TV… Check on youtube, cuzz I agree that she looks older than her age (is some photos), but on TV she looks young and fresh!!! The is breath taking!!! BTW: Agree with the Miss Puerto Rico 2007… she was a mess!!!

  22. The top 5 were stunning!!! & they answered the final question very well (except Miss Magaguez… she got nervous). I wanted Miss Arroyo 2 win, but I understand why she didn’t, she looked exactly like are current Miss Universe (Leila). She is a gorgeous black woman, but had the same hairstyle Leila had in the MU pageant. She also had a similar dress Leila had when she won… But at the end of the day, the best woman won!!! Way 2 go Monic!!! Watch out world, Puerto Rico has a strong, smart & beautiful lady 4 MU 2013!!!!! Arriba mis mujeres boricuas!!!!

  23. She’s STUNNING! Congratulations and good luck!

  24. beautiful!

  25. The representative of Arroyo really deserved to win last night. She gave an awesome catwalk during the swimsuit competition; she was amazing in evening gown and the way she answered her final question was absoltely SUPERB. But, once again, the organizers of the local pageant demonstrated they are not prepared to work with a black Miss Puerto Rico. SHAME!!

  26. she is beautiful but is she very natural?

  27. Muy Bella y digna representante de Puerto Rico en MIss Universo 2013. Felicidades!

  28. interesting event.

    * winner was the last contestant announced into the semi’s, as the top fan-vote getter. i don’t get that, since she was a favorite on many lists prior to last night, so we’d assumed she’d be a top contender on the judges score-cards as well and make the semi’s on her own, no problem. my understanding is that the 15 make the semi’s on their own merit (nullifying any need for fan votes), and the 16th semi-finalist would be the girl OUTSIDE of the 15 who received the most fan votes. last week this girl had already won best figure and best catwalk, and last night she won miss photogenic. as the eventual winner, i highly doubt monic marie entered the semi’s in 16th place, and ONLY entered the semi’s because she was the top fan-vote getter.

    * shocker of the night for her fans (me), bayamon’s stephanie roman (1st runner-up 2 years ago) did not make the semi’s. she went to continente americano 2011 as a very young 17-18 year old but did not place. maybe she’ll try a third time.

    * best in the final question was 2nd runner-up cayey’s desiree del rio (3rd runner-up 2 years ago representing ciales, and 3rd runner-up at miss international 2011). worst in the final question was the night’s constant surprise (in a good way) everytime she moved forward into the next round as the night progressed: mayaguez’s cristina franceschini.

    * final 2 said they’d never competed before, and had become BFFs during the competition.

with bayamon out of the semi’s altogether, my choice was the 1st runner-up, arroyo’s genesis davila. a stunning chocolate princess, she owned the stage all night, even being 2nd or 3rd best in the final 5 question. i could see genesis doing better at universe than monic marie, so i have high hopes for her in whichever international event she’s eventually sent to.

nevertheless, best of luck to all 5 in their upcoming international pageants.

  29. Dayanara Torres?
