NBC TO TELEVISE 2012 MISS UNIVERSE® COMPETITION LIVE FROM LAS Vegas ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19TH AT 8 P.M. ET
Telecast To Be Hosted By Andy Cohen (Bravo) And Giuliana Rancic (E! News)
NEW YORK, NY – October 23, 2012 – NBC, Donald J. Trump, and Miss Universe President Paula M. Shugart announced today that the 61st Annual MISS UNIVERSE® Competition will air live on Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’ s Theatre for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, Nevada. The glamorous event will be broadcast on NBC from 8-10 p.m. ET in the United States with a Spanish simulcast on Telemundo. Andy Cohen, host of Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” and Giuliana Rancic, co-anchor of “E! News,” will serve as hosts.
“The Miss Universe competition heads to Las Vegas for what will be another exciting show for our fans and contestants,” said Paula Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization. “Andy and Giuliana are the perfect duo and the ideal hosts for this show. It’s obvious they have a lot of fun on stage, which in turn makes it a great experience for the audience. We look forward to collaborating with them and our partners, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, on this worldwide telecast.”
The Miss Universe telecast is televised in approximately 190 countries and was the #1 social media trending topic during last year’s telecast. More than 1 billion viewers worldwide are expected to tune in for the live event. This also marks the first time that the Miss Universe telecast is part of NBC’s holiday line-up.
Returning as host of Miss Universe, Andy Cohen is the host and executive producer of “Watch What Happens Live,” Bravo’s late night, interactive talk show that features guests from some of Bravo’s most popular series, as well as from the world of entertainment, politics and pop culture. He is also the executive vice president of development and talent for Bravo where he oversees the development and production of more than two dozen shows such as “Top Chef,” “The Real Housewives” franchises and “The Millionaire Matchmaker.”
Giuliana Rancic is an anchor of “E! News” and co-host of E!’s hugely popular “Fashion Police.” She is also the executive producer/star of her hit Style Network reality show, “Giuliana & Bill.” Rancic can also be seen co-hosting E!’s “Live From the Red Carpet” coverage of events such as the Golden Globes. While she has twice hosted the Miss USA competition, this marks the first time she hosts Miss Universe.
Located along the Las Vegas Strip, the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is the newest member of Caesars Entertainment offering guests nearly three acres of casino entertainment. More than 80 contestants from around the world will land at the hotel and spend nearly three weeks participating in various activities leading up to the telecast. They will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview as they vie for the coveted title of Miss Universe 2012. Angolan-beauty Leila Lopes, Miss Universe 2011, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour telecast.
Mi voote is to miss. Mexico I woll like she won.
Hoping to cover the event. Took photos for Global Beauty in 2006 for Miss Universe and Miss USA in 2007
WIIL SEE YOU THERE!! IM SOOO HAPPY TO BE THERE!!! PARIS HOTEL ONLY TO 50 STEPS!!!
Poland’s tv hasn’t showed MU finale sence years!!!
Global Beauties, I see you did not post my last comment. I will not go into details about what my was comment about because you already know. I believe when a contest is truly sponsered by the United States, that a true winner will be picked. Say what you want about Donald, including me, like it or not, the winner will be a fact. That much I believe in, therefore, Miss USA will not win, not unless she is the true winner this year, not just to show China and Japan and whatever other country that shamelessly pick their contestant as the winner, that we will not stoop to their level, but to show that that when a contest is put on by the United States, its about the true winner, not nepotism. We ain’t afraid to loose, because when we win, its a fact. So, like last year when Miss Angola won, who is going to be the true winner this year? I cant’t wait. Donald had back to back black. If thats what has to be, then its a fact. If thats not it is, then who it is will be real no matter what. At last a real contest before the year is over.
In reality, Miss Universe Org. does not even care/pay attention if China won Miss World or Japan won Miss International, for them is meaningless so if USA puts on a good show and delivers, she will walk out as the winner regardless of the outcome in other pageants. Suggesting a certain girl should not win a competition would also be fixing.
MISS ECUADOR ESTA SONANDO…
GANARA MISS ECUADOR ESTA SONANDO DESDE YA…TODA VEZ QUE EL MISS UNIVERSE 2013 SERA EN PANAMA SIEMPRE LA QUE CORONA ES LATINA.

m y t op 5
1. SOUTH AFRICA
2. PHILIPPINES
3.U S A
4.ECUADOR
5.EL Salvador
Impending Win of another Latina. Perhaps A first crown from a Latin Country. It is already obvious with the Fashion show held lately. Anyway lets just enjoy watching Miss Universe the finale Beauty Contest for this year…..I bet it will surpass a noisier news more than Miss World and Miss International had. I can bet on that. 2012 is all about Capitalism, Commercialism etc. Miss Earth will not chose Miss Philippines to win unless the Candidate is deserving but I hope not because I do not like Miss Earth to follow World and International —-its Chilling!
does a crowning in December mean… this miss universe will have the shortest reign? if the show is back on schedule for 2013?
telemundo one TV is cheap and of poor quality, targeting the Latino populace used with a television soap opera in bad taste is disgusting that demonstrate a contest over here, and gives a sneaky advantage Latinas who do not deserve to win
cnn be true and hopefully be in charge of missuniverso since 2014 will
Very first time Ms Universe will be held in December….19th, a week before XMAS. People is on XMAS RUSH by that time……Hope coming years back to May, June or July again….
Leave it to the Donald making excuses about the Olympics and the Presidential election in the U.S.
I hope they show the scores ! or at least reveal the rankings after the final telecast
I heard that THE MISS UNIVERSE 2013 COMPETITION will be last aired by NBC.
And the year of 2014, Miss Universe will change the format, with the new channel maybe CNN.
I’m still waiting for the candidates from Albania, Greece, Haiti and Vietnam.
Why choose a photo of Ximena? Should be of Leila. Then again, Telemundo is airing it and no doubt yet another year of playing favorites to make Telemundo happy.
I’m agree with you… why still Ximena’s image? that’s not fair and just with Leila the reigning Miss Universe!… hope there not be latin broadcasting influence this year… mexican delegate is not precisely the best! O.O
haitiiiiiiiiiii
