Miss Tourism 2012 and her court: winners of a pageant “king” of controversy.

The Miss Tourism beauty contest, formerly known as Miss Tourism World, ended under heavy controversy once again and had to change its original title in order to resume. 23-year-old Miss Russia Tatyana Maksimova received a sash that said “Miss Tourism” only, once the pageant does not have the right to carry the word “World”, which belongs exclusively to the Miss World contest. Miss World is a registered trademark of Miss World Limited only.

However, the few media outles reporting on the pageant used its former “Miss Tourism World” title, which might get the contest in further legal trouble.

In addition, the contest which  took place in Thailand last weekend claimed to have the support and sponsorship of the local national government and department of tourism, using their logo to promote it, which was not true.

Controversy has always surrounded this competition. In 2005, when it was held in Zimbabwe, the country’s high court ordered the arrest of John Singh, then president of the Miss Tourism World.

We shall see how it will end.

  1. I agree with the word World being taken out since it should only apply to Miss World. But then all the pageants out there that have the word International in it should drop it as well. Miss International should be the only one to use it.

  2. Miss Tourism International (Malaysian Organizer D’touch)
Tourism Queen International of the year (Malaysian Organizer D’touch)
Miss Tourism Queen International (ERM Alex Liu)
Miss Tourism Intercontinental (Malaysian Organizer Alaric Soh)
Miss Tourism World (British Organizer John Sing)

  3. How about Miss Galaxy, Miss Milky Way, or Miss Black Hole?

  4. It should be rebranded as Miss Tourism Scandal

  5. why not the world concentrate in the big 4 pageants only. PERIOD.

    • You mean, the 5 Grand Slam pageants?

    • Miss Universe
      Miss World
      Miss International
      Miss Earth

      • Wrong. Miss Earth is no longer part of the Grand Slam. Add Miss Supranational and Miss Tourism Queen to your list.

  6. How just many Miss Tourism pageants there are????

    • LOL I know right??? In the previous thread, I also made a similar comment. There are just too many pageants that bear the name “Miss Tourism” I can’t keep track any longer. I can’t differentiate one pageant from the other, for goodness sake LOL… :D

  7. Michael Smith says:

    Thailand must learn english language.

    • How racist and disrespectful of you, Michael. By the way, it’s English with a capital “E”, so you’re really talking about yourself needing to learn English.

  8. scandal competition
