Carey Ng, 23, 1.78 m-tall, was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2012 on December 10 in Shah Alam. She will represent Malaysia in the 2013 Miss Universe Pageant, possibly in Uruguay or South Africa.
The first runner-up was Natalie Ng and the second runner-up was May Salitah.

After the back to back strong candidates not make the cut…who know this year malaysia can make it? you never know…every year sure got surprise…

That is up to the organization. they will decide to send the delegate to participate in hoping to win or place or stay home and crown your successor. What would you do???
2nd runner up. What a smile. More pleasant than the other above her. The winner just look like a clappers. Sorry to say. Nothing special about her look at all. A regular girl. We’ll see if there an improvement from her. 1 year time. After a strong candidates from malaysia back to back mu11 and mu12 for mu13 nothing to proud of it.
I kinda have to agree with you…I really wanted my favourites, May or Symren or Shareeta (Shareeta really reminds me of Miss India Universe 1993, the Bollywood actress Namrata Shirodkar!) to win…but mostly I was rooting for my fellow Borneans, May and Karissa…
…Carey Ng winning the crown is a huge surprise for me because she got quite a bit of negative feedback from the judges in episode 4, and in that same episode, she passed out! But then again I do believe in miracles and even though she is not one of my favourites, I’m sure Carey gave her all during the final night and won the crown fair and square…plus, she has one year to prepare herself for MU 2013…hopefully she makes full use of the coming year to get herself into tiptop shape and prove herself worthy of filling in the big shoes of Nadine, Deborah and Kimberley…wish her best of luck…
Yeah. For my opinion May Salitah can be an excellent beauty queen that represent 1malaysia look. But maybe the actual winner got an extra quality that suitble for mum13. And maybe one day the beautiful borneans girl can finally be at the top. Looking forward for it. Matter of time they will shine at the stage of miss universe. For the new queen best of luck n cheers as long as she can. Work hard and work hard. Nothing to lose but still have to do 110%.

I see both South Africa and Malaysia can crown a new titleholder while the outgoing queen is participating at MU, but some like Miss Gabon and France have to crown their successors and misses out.
KL, It is just due to Miss Universe being held later than normal that Miss SA did not crown her successor.
That’s the point, why some could participate and some couldn’t.
some of the girls are obligated, and some perhaps don’t care about the int’l contest. i almost think sending a runner-up might be better because perhaps some of them want to prove the judges wrong at their national pageant by winning an int’l title.
