I can hope somebody can enlighten me. I’m just wondering why the Ms World winner was awarded the most points in the Country of the Year ranking? Does GB consider ms World a more prestigious pageant than Ms Universe?

  • thierry

    I prefer miss australia!

  • Francisco Lateriz

How did the Philippines chosen to represent in this pageant?
Is she a candidate from Binibining Pilipinas 2012 or Miss Earth Philippines 2012, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2012 or Miss World Philippines 2012?

  • liezl espritu

i dont know how Philippines won!?! well the pageant was held in Asia.

  • Bonnieb

Oh gawd here we go again, Philippines has won a pageant so the pageant obsessed philippine people go crazy.

I would’nt mind but she is not the best looking girl there, Australia and Venezuela are far more lovely.

Ah well, roll on the next pageant…..

  • ara

this only shows that asian pageants are fair….this is a vindication of janine tugonons misfortune in miss universe pageant.. janine should have won the miss universe crown! she clearly and convincingly nailed it during the q and a of top 5! now rizzini proves that filipinas are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful women in the world!

  • lilimanta

If only the flips are this enthusiastic about building their economy and improving the standards of living of their ppl. So sad they only think about helping trump making more money

    • Tisha

What a dumb comment. This is a beauty pageant site. Get outta here and keep your economy comments to yourself. You can say the same thing to every country. Philippines on the other hand just became Newly Industrialized Country and Trump does not own every pageants in the world.

      • lilimanta

Use ur brain for once. Trump is enticing flip to host the pageant without hassle, unlike when he tried to ask other countries and they rejected the offer. While u and ur kind r arguing that ur rep shud hv won the crown, trump is laughing at ur stupidity. Not to forget the victims of typhoon that struck ur country r suffering while u r busy about pageant. Wake up, ur country is being played by trump

        • anuberd

I’m sorry but it seems that you are misinformed. Whoever said that Filipinos only think about beauty pageants? That’s a stupid rhetoric. You want me to update you on what we do for the typhoon victims? I can also update you on what we are doing to improve our economy if that’s what you want. Oh wait, this is Global Beauties. Why on earth would I post those things here?

And concerning hosting Miss Universe, what’s wrong with that? Our country hosted that pageant twice in the past at an interval of 20 years. Why does this become an issue now? We all know that Trump benefits from the proceeds of the hosting, but it seems apparent that you don’t understand the dynamics of this whole thing. While it is true that the Philippines will spend on the hosting of this pageant, it will also benefit from it.

How many viewers does Miss Universe have? How many crazy fans go to the internet to read about the activities during the course of the pageant? It’s so stupid to think that Trump will be the only one who’ll benefit from this. Ever heard of Tourism? Is it really just about spending millions of dollars just to host the event? Apparently, those who want the deal to push through know more than you do.

Do us all a favor by quitting posting, will you? Your stupidity transcends through your posts and they give us headaches.

          • Kurara_fan

A lot of countries who hosted Miss Universe before (Trump years) are complaining that they did not benefit anything when they hosted the pageant, special mention, Ecuador. And I don’t think the Philippine government is keen on spending money to host Miss Universe.

Tourism you say? The country can attract visitors even if they don’t host Miss Universe. The pageant has changed compared when the country hosted back in 1994 (the excitement and glam, plus the iconic crown ain’t there anymore) Don’t be fooled by Trump, there’s vested interest involved. He’s only after his own pocket.

          • Amoire

Well said, that should shut her up. lol

          • XYZ

Actually, I would like to hear what you did for typhoon victims, because while that was going on, all we heard from the Philippine camp was about someone’s “cobra walk”. Which in the end did not get you the title you so craved.

The Philippines would give away 10% of their GDP, no questions asked, if they were promised a Miss Universe or Miss World crown in return. With all the bitterness and resentment for not winning either in 2012, I’m sure they’ll all still clamor and watch in 2013 and onwards.

  • hi, how about miss humanities 2012, miss philppines was a 2nd RU…

  • Brasilia

Sheena: Very well said! Congratulations Filipinas!

  • lady Untalan

This proves that Philippines dont need CATHY UNTALAN’S DIRTY SECRETS TO PLACE IN MISS EARTH. Philippines proves that we are a strong in International Pageant Arena. God Job Philippines!

      • lilimanta

i can only image the wrath in the pacific ocean should filipin won ms universe/world and receive negative remarks from others. the “truly world class” attitude will definitely comes out. as what most filipinos love to say “mark my words!”

  • KL

LOL, this sounds like what the top 5 of Miss Universe 2012 should’ve been.

  • rene remanes

Indeed Filipinos have different charm and intelligence! This year, Ms Janine Tugonon was the sure winner of Miss Universe, but we were robbed of the title! We proved that the Philippines is not a push-over in tandem with other countries in the world in beauty and brains and Rizzini proved it once again without doubts! Watch our candidates this 2013, and i’m sure we will bring home that elusive 3rd Miss Universe crown!

    • beauty and brains ka day

rene remanes…pls mag move on kna kay JT……everybody already moved on……this is miss tourism intl….this has nothing to do w miss universe pagent results at all…be sensitive and sensible…..give the credit to the winner..Rizzini Alexis Gomez,…she work at it to win the title and nothing to do w what u think of miss universe result…..give the glory to miss Rizzini Alexis Gomez, for winning the titile….PLS MOVEON WITH MISS UNIVERSE 2012>>>>its already 2013….CONGRATS TO ALL THW WINNERS…you all deserve it

  • Romm

PHILIPPINES IS COUNTRY OF THE YEAR! Congratulations.

  • michymoo

    congrats Philippines! :)

  • Bluangel

    Australia should have won.

  • Sheena

Philippines don’t need Miss Earth to be a powerhouse in pageantry.

  • Yes Jay Miss Tourism International and Miss Tourism Queen International are two different beauty pageants and congratulations Philippines for winning and happy new year 2013

  • Jay

Are Miss Tourism International and Miss Tourism Queen International two different pageants?

    • Gabe

I was wondering that as well! It’s so confusing! Trusty Wikipedia doens’t seem to think so though. Miss TQ seem to be chinese owned and the other, malaysian. Either way they should have a patent on these names in the same way miss world prohibits other pageants from using the term ‘world’.

      • Diana

If i’m not mistaken, the malaysian who owned this pageant is a malaysian millionaire. Yup, it was held in malaysia on 31st dec. the only pageant who the winner is not from the host country. Need we say more? It is a fair pageant. Mr trump, you should shane of yourself!

        • Tisha

Fair pageant? Well see about that. Lets not forget that this is bankrolled by a malaysian an the winner last year was Malaysia also a runner up finish this year. I hardly think beauty pageants are fair.

  • hiddenspice

Let me also add Miss Teen Universe 1st runner up and top 10 in Miss Asia & Pacific, Top 10 in Supermodel Interntional and many more. What a great year for Philippine Pageantry despite that we didn’t win any of our big four pageant, we did great by placing in every prestigious intl arena

  • adamdaniel

Somehow,i think miss tourism international is the only pageant who not involving a political issue in terms to choose a winner.

    • Marie Jones

maybe coz nobody really talks about Miss Tourism International. By history this pageant has been held in Malaysia & only one time that was held in China in 2006. Malaysia has captured 1 Winner, 5 runners-up & 8 semi-finalists position. Would you think of the same to Misses Malaysia in other beauty pageants? They hardly place. I think whoever owned a beauty pageant there’s always exception to their own delegate and that’s understandable.

  • Congrats…Philippines 2012 is really celebration of beauty and brain to us…..

  • Witot

    Philippines rules!

  • Phoenix777

    • daniel

I am now waiting for GB to publish its web page indicating that the Philippines is the country of the Year!!! There is no reason for the Philippines to be not declared a winner for this very important Overall Winning Category!

    • beauty and brains ka day

pilippines deligates make it work year 2012…im hoping they still retain that this 2013…..good luck philippines this 2013 on both male and female pagents….just a reminder to fellow filipino fans…im wishing that when we comment i hope it would be sensible and not arrogant so that we wont we lambasted w other pagent fans of other countries……remember thatvin every pagent or contest theres only one winner so if we didnt make it….theres another one…its not yet the end of the world…

    • alex

you forgot to include Miss Supranational 2012 3rd runner up

    • Gabe

Don’t forget to include Miss International Queen 2012 for transgendered people! In a pageant year filled with controversy over gender rights – it’s a pageant nonetheless and fairly won by Philippines’ very own Kevin Balot! Congrats!!

  • diolia

    congratzzzzzzzz Philippines

  • Congratulations Miss Philippines… Such a nice thing to end the year…
