26-year old Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, who was crowned in Las Vegas last December 20th, has returned to her home country of the Philippines for her official homecoming and an extensive agenda of activities that will take place during this week, culminating with a special public event to take place Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Wurtzbach arrived to the country joined by Miss Universe Organization president Paula Shugart, along with other members of the staff.  The beauty took part in an official press conference where she talked to the media about several issues.

However, she mentioned that she is true to the cause of ‘cyber bullying’, a social issue that she adopted even before competing in the Miss Universe pageant; Pia added that she will use her title to talk about this problem, its consequences and how to combat it.

Filipino pageant fans are known to be very passionate about beauty pageants, and when things do not go their way or they don’t agree with other opinions, they attack in a very agressive and uneducated manner, a phenomenon that has been taking place for about 15 years.

Wurtzbach referred to people who were attacking her on social media, and also referred to the attacks to other fellow Miss Universe contestants – who voiced in social media – their disagreement about her winning the Miss Universe crown.  In consequence, these girls received very vicious messages from lots of pageant fans in the Philippines which were not nice.  Pia said that this behavior needs to stop, and urges her followers to not bash anybody on social media.

She also added that her dream is to become a Bond girl in the famous James Bond movies.

The reigning Miss Universe also mentioned that she would “absolutely love” to crown her sucessor in her home country.  Rumors say that the Miss Universe 2016 competition could be hosted in the Philippines; however there has not been confirmation about that possibility.

After the press event, Wurtzbach met with her fellow Binibining Pilipinas competitors who greeted her with open arms.

She will return to the Philippines in April to crown the new Miss Universe Philippines.
