THE CONTESTANTS

Meet the 163 competitors as they enter the Olympic Stadium during the Opening Ceremony, with colorful comments by our very special guests Cassandra Porto and Janet Sullivan...

BOLIVIA

Cassandra: Desiree Durán adopted the Amelia Vega look and actually looked fabulous in Miss Universe 2006!
Janet: Yes, being in the Top 10 certainly did her country proud. Desiree is very beautiful and sexy!

BORNEO EAST MALAYSIA

Cassandra: Janet Cheok Hai Sem represented Borneo at Miss Tourism Queen 2007.
Janet: She was very confident and sang quite well.

BOSNIA & HERZEGOVINA

Cassandra: Bosnia & Herzegovina has been doing well in Miss Earth, the country had two straight placements at the semi-finals.
Janet: Bozena Jelcic exuded beauty and sex appeal in 2006, she is another very natural beauty I enjoyed watching.

BOTSWANA

Cassandra: Botswana's Tshegofatso Robi competed in Miss World 2005.
Janet: She has a very pretty and had a sweet face.

BRAZIL

Cassandra: Oh my God, look at that smile!! Brazil's first Miss Earth, Priscilla Meirelles is today a big celebrity in the Philippines.
Janet: Priscilla is a stunner, don't we love her Portuguese accent hosting Miss Earth??
Cassandra: Yes, it's so sexy, she is marvelous indeed, another front-runner for these games!

BULGARIA

Cassandra: Wow, look at this face!
Janet: I don't know about you, but I can easily picture Slavena Vatova in one of those Lux commercials!
Cassandra: Totally, look at that silk skin!

CAMBODIA

Cassandra: It's interesting to see such politically closed nation represented at major pageants like Miss World and Miss Tourism Queen.
Janet: I remember her wearing a beautiful red dress at Miss World, and Sun Srey Mom really knew how to carry it, she is so elegant...

CAMEROON

Cassandra: Cameroon has also joined the pageant community in the last couple of years, and although not a semi-finalist, Marthe Nathalie Houag was named "Queen of Africa" at Miss Tourism Queen 2007.
Janet: Yes, I like her slender figure and great stage presence.
Cassandra: And who can forget her tears when receiving the Queen of Africa sash??
Janet: Isn't she the girl who lost both of her parents tragically?
Cassandra: I'm not sure, Janet...

CANADA

Cassandra: It is time for some major crowd reaction again! Natalie Glebova, the near-perfect beauty from Canada who conquered the Universe in 2005 has entered the Olympic Stadium!
Janet: And look at her, she does have the look of a winner. We are certainly looking at another major favorite here, eye on her!

CAYMAN ISLANDS

Cassandra: Ambuyah Ebanks of the Cayman Islands was one of the favorites to take a Caribbean slot at Miss World 2006, which ended up not happening.
Janet: Too bad, since she is actually very impressive: tall, elegant, just beautiful!

CHAD

Cassandra: Myriam Commelin remains the only woman from her country to have competed at a Grand Slam pageant.
Janet: She competed at Miss Earth 2004, and was very elegant. Myriam is a very exotic beauty. I loved her wardrobe!

CHILE

Cassandra: And there comes another Miss Earth winner, Hil Hernández of Chile!
Janet: Hil got it all - she is tall, charming, and has the face of an angel.

Cassandra: Doesn't she look like Ashwaria Rai from some angles?
Janet: Well, some people think so. Just as her name, I think Hil's beauty is unique.

CHRISTMAS ISLANDS

Cassandra: The small Christmas Islands were represented at Miss Tourism Queen 2006 by Kassie Lau Siow Chien.
Janet: Yes, there she is....

COLOMBIA

Cassandra: Yeymmy Paola Vargas Gómez of Colombia became the first black winner of Miss International.
Janet: Yes, it finally happened in 2004. This Colombian stunner broke a taboo, and we can only hope it won't take four more decades for us to see another black Miss International titleholder...
Cassandra: Indeed...

CONGO, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF

Cassandra: Diane Mizumi Mwinga passed unnoticed in Miss World 2006, but in Miss Tourism Queen 2007 she was always a favorite.
Janet: That's right, the last time her country had made it to the semi-finals of a major beauty pageant was in the 1980's, when the D.R. of Congo was still known as Zaire. I love her smile and this girl also has brains, she gave one of the best answers in Miss Tourism Queen the year she competed.

CONGO, REPUBLIC OF

Cassandra: Fatouma Blanda Eboundit was the queen of "va-va-voom" in Miss Tourism Queen 2006! She was a hurricane on stage.
Janet: She was! I love Fatouma, whose 2nd runner-up position was the 2nd best result by an African beauty at a Grand Slam pageant in the last 4 years.
