THE CONTESTANTS

Meet the 163 competitors as they enter the Olympic Stadium during the Opening Ceremony, with colorful comments by our very special guests Cassandra Porto and Janet Sullivan...

LIBERIA

Cassandra: Liberia's Rachel Bidmia Njinimbam is a beautiful woman. In my opinion she was overlooked in Miss Earth 2006 and in Miss Tourism Queen 2007.
Janet: She certainly was, look at that skin! Beautiful.

LITHUANIA

Cassandra: Janet, I cannot believe Jurguita Jurkute will have play in the qualifying round, she is so stunning!
Janet: Blame it on Miss World 2007 judges, Cassandra. Pageant observers were stunned by her non-inclusion among the Top 16. I think she will advance to Round 1 of competition without much trouble.

LUXEMBOURG

Cassandra: Laurie Korbas represented Luxembourg at Miss Tourism Queen 2006.
Janet: It's nice to see Luxembourg back in the Grand Slam.

MACAU

Cassandra: I think Miss Earth Macau 2007 Zhang Xiao Yu is very cute.
Cassandra: Cute is the best word to describe her. There she is, smiling and waiving back to the crowd...

MACEDONIA, F.Y.R. of

Cassandra: A press favorite for the 2007 Miss Tourism Queen title, Macedonia's Biljana Gjorgiovska was left in the ice.
Janet: She was bright, beautiful and very outgoing. Cassandra, have you heard of the series "Pageants' Unsolved Mysteries"?
Cassandra: Oh Janet, that's a good one! We can easily name many episodes for that series!
(both laugh)

MALAWI

Cassandra: Rachel Landson Phiri represented Malawi at Miss World 2006.
Janet: Wasn't it 2005?
Cassandra: Oh, right!

MALAYSIA

Cassandra: I love, love, love this girl! Deborah Priya Henry, Miss World Malaysia 2007!
Janet: So do I Cassandra! I think Deborah has lots of admirers, she could go really far in this competition.
Cassandra: I hope she will!

MALDIVES

Cassandra: Maldives' only representative at a Grand Slam pageant ever is Leng Yein, from Miss Tourism Queen 2006.
Janet: Wasn't she the winner of Miss Disco that year? I remember her moves on the dance floor were veeeery sexy, if you know what I mean...
Cassandra: Yes, yes...

MALTA

Cassandra: Stephanie Zammit of Malta had such an incredible energy on the 2007 Miss World stage!
Janet: She did, she actually made me feel like joining the girls and dancing!!

MARTINIQUE

Cassandra: Can you believe Murielle Celimene's physique??
Janet: It can't be real, this girl has a perfect body! Look at those legs!!

MONACO

Cassandra: Monaco made it through Miss Tourism Queen 2006 semi-finals with Julie Breham.
Janet: Pretty girl, but I must ask: has this Miss Monaco ever been to Monaco??

MAURITIUS

Cassandra: Vanesha Seetohul represented Mauritius at Miss World 2006 and Miss Tourism Queen 2007.
Janet: Yes, she did...

MEXICO

Cassandra: Stunning Priscila Perales was a semi-finalist at Miss Universe 2006, in Los Angeles. One year later she traveled to Japan to take home the coveted Miss International crown.
Janet: It was a great comeback for Priscila, certainly a front-runner at the 2008 Beauty Olympics.

MOLDOVA

Cassandra: After being 2nd at Miss World's Beach Beauty contest, in 2005, many people thought this Moldovan beauty would be at least a semi-finalist at the final event.
Janet: Well, it didn't happen, but it was a very competitive year in her region. She is very pretty!

MONGOLIA

Cassandra: Sodtuya Chadraabal of Mongolia was voted Miss Photogenic at Miss International 2004.
Janet: She was also a semi-finalist in that year's event.
