BEAUTIES' MISS EARTH 2007 SPECIAL
11/11 - Miss Earth 2007 comes from Canada!
Manila, PHILIPPINES - In an event full of surprising results, Jessica Trisko, Miss Canada, emerged as the new Miss Earth. Her runner-ups were Miss India, Pooja Chitgopekar (Miss Air), Miss Venezuela, Silvana Santaella (Miss Water) and Miss Spain, Ángela Gomez Duran (Miss Fire).
Rounding out the group of 8 finalists were Misses Georgia, Peru, Switzerland and Thailand.
The semi-finalists were (top 16): Martinique, Nigeria, Romania, Czech Republic, South Africa, Lebanon, Sweden and the Dominican Republic.
Many heavy favorites, such as the representatives of Ukraine, Brazil, Philippines, Vietnam, Korea and Poland were "left in the ice".
Miss South Africa won the "Beauty for a Cause" award, while Miss Venezuela was considered best in swimsuit and evening gown. Miss Thailand had the best national costume, Miss Lithuania won the talent competition, and Miss Philippines got the Miss Photogenic award (voted by the general public).
22-year-old Jessica Trisko, the new Miss Earth, was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is a first generation Canadian of Russo-Ukrainian and Filipino heritage. Jessica’s first language is English, but she also speaks Russian and basic French, says the official Miss Earth website.
Jessica has attended university in Montreal, where she excelled as a student-athlete, as well as in the United States and Russia. She recently returned to Montreal to begin a Ph.D. in Political Science at McGill University.

23/10 - Manila, PHILIPPINES - The
7th edition of the Miss Earth beauty
pageant will take place in Manila, Philippines, from
October 21st to November 11th. 88 beauties
from all over the planet will gather in the host country
to promote environmental causes. The reigning
titleholder is 23-year old Hil Hernandez from Chile.
A group of delegates
will participate in a 3-day visit to Vietnam. The
finals will take place at the University of the Philippines
Theater.

Born in 2001 and
organized by Carousel Productions, the Miss Earth
pageant is now recognized as the 3rd largest beauty
contest in the world (following Miss World and Miss
Universe). The reigning titleholders dedicate
their year to promote the event to address issues
