COUNTRY OF THE YEAR:

INDIA
For India 1966 was a prelude to a future of success, as it was the country which performed the best that year. Brazil climbed an important position and took Germany's 2nd place. South Africa returned to the top 10, and Japan left it after many years. Miss International was not held in 1966.

COUNTRY OF THE YEAR:

ISRAEL
Israeli beauties kept on delivering amazing performances, which guaranteed this Middle Eastern country first place in 1967. Upon its Miss International victory, Argentina became the first country to have won all three grand slam titles. It was also back to the "top 5", pushing Finland one position down.

COUNTRY OF THE YEAR:

ISRAEL
In 1968 we can say that Brazil was betrayed by mathematics. With a Miss Universe and a Miss International, the South American country was not named "Country of the Year", Israel was instead. The fact that Miss Brazil did not place at all in Miss World, gave Israel an extra edge and the 1968 victory by one point difference. On the top of that, Brazil also lost its 2nd position in the ranking to no other than...Israel! Miss Curaçao Universe earned the first points for her Caribbean Dutch possession and became the first black woman to reach the top 5 in Miss Universe (she was the 1st runner-up). Miss International moved to Japan.

COUNTRY OF THE YEAR:

FINLAND
Finland not only was once again named "Country of the Year" in 1969, but it also ended the 1960's in 2nd place in the G.S. Ranking, only behind the then unbeatable United States. The United Kingdom moved into the top 10, ironically right behind England. England, Scotland and Wales competed independently from the U.K. in Miss Universe and Miss International, while the U.K. competed in Miss World.
