AUSTRALIA
Although Israel had historically done well in the world's finest pageants, its first big victory came only in 1976, when Miss Israel became Miss Universe. Australia was not only "country of the year" for the third time in the decade, but it also reached its highest G.S. ranking position that far: 3rd place. Venezuela entered the top 10 in 8th place, tied with Japan.

Bermuda, the small British possession located in the Atlantic North, must've been proud of Gina Swainson's performance in Miss World (winner) and Miss Universe (2nd place) in 1979, which guaranteed the island the title of "country of the year". The United States ended another decade easily leading the Grand Slam ranking, with Australia in 2nd, Brazil in 3rd, the United Kingdom in 4th and Israel in 5th place.
