Mister Dominican Republic, Erick Jiménez Sabater, is the new Mister Universe Model 2012. He edged out other 26 hunks who competed for the title in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Mister Slovenia, Miha Dragos, was the 1st runner-up, followed by Mister Argentina, Daniel Cajiao (2nd runner-up and Mr Internet), Mister Spain, Nicolás Ferreiro (3rd runner-up and Mister Elegance), Mister Venezuela, Julio César Torres (4th runner-up and Mr Photogenic), and Mister Chile, Alberto Byers (5th runner-up).
The Top 12 semi-finalists were: Misters Luxembourg, Serbia, Nicaragua, Peru, Italy and U.S. Virgin Islands (also the winner of the Best National Costume award).
Although locals celebrated the victory of their own Erick Jiménez, most other candidates walked away in protest and did not greet the winner.

Without a doubt, he was the best one! I met ALL of the candidates and he was simply the best one. The Top 3 was perfect!
There’s a big scandal going on because of the election of Mr R Domican as a winner. The rest of the contestants have said that it was fixed and the organization of this event had 6 judges out of 8 from Dominican Rep. In protest, right after they announced the winner, all the contestants turned their back on the stage and walked away…you can see it in the pictures.
Some contestants have speaken out accusing the organization of fraudelent and a total mess from the beginning.
