After 19 years, finally the Philippines conquers its first male Grand Slam title. June Macasaet, a model from Batangas, was chosen among 53 hunks who competed for the coveted title in Bangkok, Thailand. Macasaet had been considered one of the favorites since the beginning of the competition.
The hottest favorite in this year’s pageant, however, Sweden’s Peter Jonsson, had to settle for second place. Martin Wang Yu-Tian made history for Macau: his 3rd place is the best ever Grand Slam result for the Chinese territory, in male or female beauty contests. Latin America left its mark with Puerto Rico’s Jimmy Perez Rivera, 3rd runner-up, and rounding out the top 5, we had another Asian, Singapore’s own Jason Chee Pei Kun.
Completing the list of 15 semi-finalists, there were the candidates from Colombia, Jorge Leon Perez, Denmark, Alexander Bach, Dominican Republic, Joel Perez Nunez, Greece, Thomas Gabriel, India, Arry Dabas, Latvia, Ivans Jevstignejevs, Switzerland, Lavdrim Sylejmani, Thailand, Mookkapon Posakabuth, United States, Andres Santa Giraldo, and Venezuela, Jeyco Edgar Esteba Ruiz.
Results were more or less within the expected, and there were not as many surprises and upsets like in 2011.
Bankok served as host for Manhunt International for the first time ever. The production was not as elaborated as it used to be. There was no final question or interview for the finalists.

Great showing considering that he didn’t have a lot of time to prepare. Congratulations!
June has definitely confirmed his favoritism…he was obviously the clear winner even on day one…this is a great year for the Philippines again…this time, it’s not only our beautiful women who are shining in the international pageant arena but our men are starting to make their presence felt…Mabuhay ka June Macasaet!..thank you for making us proud of you!
whatever…good for him! but the winner was Sweden.
you’re such a loser! how is it clear that Sweden is the winner? the judges had already their verdict, the title was announced CLEARLY – PHILIPPINES and not SWEDEN. HALLER?
Congratulations to the Philippines – June was the best representative they ever sent to Manhunt and he was rewarded as such.
Lots of surprises on this edition but we have to remember that this hasn’t been a pageant in the conventional sense of the word since 2000. From 2001 it’s been more of a modelling contest and has not had a Q&A round since that time. Hence the shocking inclusions and exclusions, such as Brazil’s Lucas Malvacini from last year, who despite being of the better looking contestants, was also one of the shortest (and height means everything in runway modelling).
Macau and his completely manufactured look is to male pageants like how plastic surgery queens are to female pageants. I won’t say anything else about that.
MR. POGI!
en estos concursos organizados por los chinos siempre ganan los chinos y afines
Really handsome this philippino hunk… he deserves to win… but my absolutely favorite was Mr SWEDEN… gorgeous!…
Excellent TOP 15 pick up… all them were the best!…
Sweden was robbed, def. the hottest guy there.
sour graping
Hilarious! This guy would not turn a head in Miami Beach. I guess the wimpy look is back.
P.S. reminds me of the all Asian 1988 Miss Universe. These pageants are a joke when held in Asia.
Wow!! Congratulations to Mister PHILIPPINES!! Party-party for the FILIPINO pageant fans! Mabuhay!
Congratulations and Mabuhay (Long Live!!!) PHILIPPINES!!!
BIG BIG NEWS for home! Manhunt is the most popular malepageant here and with imitations in so many islands in this beauty-pageant-crazy country. June Macasaet’s win for the PHILIPPINES will make major headlines and waves of showbiz engagements. Congratulations!
Alexander Aquino, Mr. International 2001, is the first Filipino who won an international male pageant competition.
THIS guy has MICE face, too bad election. SWEDEN and PUERTO RICO must be WINNER & FIRST RUNNER UP. WTF Macau & Singapore in TOP 5 ?? What were Judges looking for ?? This is not Manhunt International, must change name to MR ASIA INTERNATIONAL.
What the hell did this mean?! >> THIS guy has MICE face, too bad election.
Please improve your English skills before posting comments like this. Sourgraping in the most unelegant language. B**ch please…
Congratulations Philippines!! A well-deserved win!!
Sweden is a Manhunt powerhouse! Good job as well
Congratulations my fellow Batangeno. All of us here from Lipa City, Batangas are very proud of you. You deserve it!
Congratulations June!
To GB Staff:
The Philippines’ first male Grand Slam Title was in 2001 when Alexander Aquino won Mister International 2001 held in India. The 1st runner-up was Mr. Venezuela. So Mr. Macasaet’s winning as Manhunt International this year is the second.
Wrong again. That was a different pageant, never Grand Slam.
well deserved win! congrats june mac! never doubted you’ll win this!
Congratulations! Proud of you baby!
yes, congratulations Philippines, mabuhay pilipinas.
Philippine Representatives are now really being noticed and recognized in male/female pageantry… it all began in 2010 when Venuz Raj made it in the Miss Universe…
Congratulations Mr. Phillipines. I’m glad my favorite Mr. Singapore made the top 5. Please tell me how Mr. Australia did not at least make it into the top 15.
Congrats to Philippines and Macau- two of my hot picks. Philippines’ patrician good looks and bearing and Macau’s raw sex appeal obviously caught the discerning eyes of the judges.
I never understood/saw the ‘hotness’ of Sweden.
I toally over looked Phillipines. At least he looks sincere.
Congratulations to the new Manhunt International 2012! The best of luck to Mr. World Philippines in Mr. World 2012!
Congratulations to Philippines…..Mabuhay!
Yahoo!!! Finally another victory for the Filipinos… Well deserved one… I have predicted it… I am good… I love you June!!!
Congratulations Philippines!!! Mabuhay!!!
Congratulations PILIPINAS!!!
Is Mr. International a grand slam pageant? Philippines won in 2001.
Wrong, that pageant no longer exists.
June Macasaet, you deserved the title!!
Congratulations Mr. Philippines, June Macasaet! You made us PROUD! Thank you so much.
Congratulations Mr. PH
correction pls. This is the Philippines’ second grand slam title. It was in 2001 when Philippines won its first ever grand slam title as Mr. international under the name of Alexander Aquino, with Venezuela as his 1st runner up was Venezuela and the second runner up is Mr. Holland
You are wrong. That was another MI pageants, the one which died years ago.
But GB should have stated that Philippines already won a male International Pageant in 2001 and this is the second time for the Philippines, as what you are doing in your other pageant news.
We talked about Grand Slam pageants.
Oh is that so. alright. condolence to MI then
This is just funny. Can we join you in mourning? Lol.
Congratulations Mr. Philippines for a well-deserved win!
i think philippines won Mister International before (that is if it isnt a grandslam male pageant)
No, it did not. The pageant Philippines won doesn’t even exist any longer.
Lets be fair, he was not the best on the night. This should have been Sweden’s title but it was in an asian country and three asians were in the top five, enough said.
you’re the one who is not being fair…look beyond color and race…dont be such a racist
Finally!!! Congrats to our kababayan =)
Cool!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
Whether or not Mr. International still exists. It is a far better male pageant and certainly more organized than Manhunt International. Admin’s perception of a grand slam pageant is their (read: only their’s) own sole belief. The world still knows that a handsome Filipino won another (better) pageant before. Admin seems to downplay the Philippines’ victory. I wonder why.
Global Beauties created the concept of Grand Slam for pageants, so yes, we decide who gets it.
Sweden was robbed!!!!! He should gave won!! Cheating Asians!!!
Contest was held in Bangkok – if the judging was ” unfair” or biased as some comments here suggest Thailand should have made it at least to the top 5.
MI has been in existence since 1993 and one only needs to google to see which countries have won since then- the selection has been diversely and fairly ‘global’. Note that an Asian country (India) had not won until 7 years into the pageant’s history.
Congratulations Philippines! I know a there are a lot of good looking men in the contest… But the judges made their decision that he should win. Let’s just respect that. Even my ultimate fave Mr.Lebanon and Mr.Bahamas didn’t make it! But that’s fine. Oh God Mr.Lebanon is soooooo hot! Hahahaha
This MANHUNT INTERNATIONAL 2012 was the best batch ever…. In the sense that there were lots of really good looking MEN and the ASIAN delegates were really highly competitives. The top 15 were all the deserving frontrunners. And if there could have been 16th and 17th, the judges won’t missed Australia and Turkey for sure…. But there were only 15 spots….
And the judging was righteously done right. BUT IFF I have to do it again…. I would say… Mr. PHILIPPINES is the winner, 1RU is Sweden and 2RU is SINGAPORE….
Admin, who decides that a pageant is a grand slam, you?
The Mister International pageant won by Alex Aquino won in 2001 may not exist anymore, but it was an international pageant, nonetheless. I believe it had even more contestants than the present Mister International pageant
But it is not a Grand Slam pageant. It ceased to exist.
The Asians made it because the judges like them, and not because the contest is held in Asia. Looking at their wonderful physiques and handsome faces, they all deserve to be there. I think Indonesia is good too. My pre- pageant hot fave was Sweden all the way. I am disappointed he did not win, but Philippines is a great choice and I hope he will be one of the best Manhunt International winners. Hopefully, Thailand will host the contest again.
well expect the eyebrows to raise up since Philippines won. It would always be something if a Filipino wins a pageant. Can’t you guys be happy for the Philippines?
i could not agree more with you. “always” a something for others.. and we have been used to it. eat their hearts out..
It just means ASIAN powerhouse this time! Now its PHILIPPINES! Congrats also to all ASIANS who made it.
If a black or white person won, it no big deal, we Asian people usually respect it, but if Asian candidate won, there is a lots of protest, Remember it a contest that not only base in look, but overall criteria, leave Miss China, Miss Japan alone, as well this poor guy, be open minded, don’t be a looser as well, take it and get over it!
WELL. A FILIPINO WON. and it’s a celebration indeed! a FESTIVAL will be BORN
yey! hahaha. SUPER LIKE it.
congratulations!
He deserves the title.
Pinoys, quit bugging GB about Mr. International 2001, that’s sooooo looooong agooooo. Let’s just revel in this new wonderful victory. Mabuhay!!!
The worst winner ever, wasn’t in my top 30. Absolutely a joke. There were many good asians like Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand but Philippines was a very weak contender. He has an ugly face. Sweden was stunning.
Woah, another sourgraping Philippines basher. Get over and done with it, hunty. Pointblank.
