Manhunt: Candidates visit Alishan National Scenic Area

Two days away from the big final, the 50 Manhunt International 2010 finalists got a chance to see the wonders of Alishan National Scenic Area, a mountain resort and natural preserve located in the mountains of Chiayi County in Taiwan.

This beautiful place has, among other things, mountain wilderness, waterfalls, high altitude tea plantations, the Alishan Forest Railway and several hiking trails. The area is popular among tourists and mountain climbers, and Alishan or Mount Ali  itself has become one of the major landmarks associated with Taiwan. It is also famous for its production of high mountain tea and wasabi.

For the Manhunt delegates, it was the perfect place and time to recharge their energy for the competition, breathing fresh air, and being amazed by the nature around them. They visited local native tribes, learned their dances and songs, and tasted their famous tea.

Take note: Slovakia and Gibraltar got married the Alishan away!

The mountain tribes are friendly and practice various traditions, among which, worshiping the penile figures, which they believe bring good luck and scare the evil away.

Apparently Spain likes that…

Again the contestants were treated to organic lunch and dinner, with the food they ate all being produced in the mountain. The mayor of Ali Shan also owns the excellent Alishan Guo Resort Hotel, where they spent a great evening.

Tomorrow, rehearsals, as Manhunt’s big final approaches!

Mister International: Who will the winner be?

Forty countries, and all 5 continents, are represented in Mister International 2010, a record for the “baby pageant” among Grand Slam beauty competitions for men. Overall quality has also improved compared to past editions, and although there’s no obvious winner, at least 9 candidates have good chances to walk away with the sash and trophy.

This is Global Beauties’ review for Mister International 2010:

Madagascar: debuting in a male Grand Slam pageant

The long shots…

El Salvador – Honduras – India – Madagascar – Singapore – Sri Lanka

They are far from being considered hot favorites, but their great personalities and personal charm, could help these candidates ‘stealing’ a spot among the semi-finalists.

Madagascar, for instance, should be proud just for being there, after all, it’s the first time ever that this African country is represented in a men’s Grand Slam pageant. Singapore, coming from the organizer’s home country, is most likely to pull a surprise in this group.

The possible upsets…

Australia – Azerbaijan – Brazil – Czech Republic – Ecuador – Guatemala – Indonesia – Kazakhstan – Korea – Malaysia – Netherlands – Pakistan – Panama – Philippines – Slovakia – Turkey – Ukraine – Venezuela

If the above mentioned delegates are not “shoo-ins” for the semi-finals, nobody would be shocked to see a couple of them landing in the ‘top 15′. Azerbaijan has a great face, but could lose points in the swimsuit competition for being too skinny; Brazil is said to have the most amazing personality; Guatemala looks good, but needs to tone down the make up; Korea looks trendy, Malaysia has a very commercial face, and Venezuela has a rough beauty and stunning smile that could conquer a few precious votes. Indonesia will be “playing at home”, which always represents an extra edge over the rest of the competitors.

Shoo-ins for the semi-finals…

Austria – Belgium – Bolivia – Chile – Costa Rica – Lebanon – Namibia

Chile: expected to be a semi-finalist

If probably not fighting for the title, these 7 men can be considered “shoo-ins” for the semi-finals. Austria has one of the best faces of the competition; Bolivia, some believe, looks even better than last year’s winner, also from Bolivia; Costa Rica once again promises to give a good fight with his beautiful smile; Lebanon shall not arrive in the ‘top 5′, but is almost sure to be a semi-finalist; and Namibia could make history for being the first man from his country to become a male Grand Slam pageant semi-finalist.

They will fight for the title…

Bosnia & Herzegovina – Colombia – Denmark – France – Great Britain – Greece – Ireland – Slovenia – Spain

Europe has done its homework and sent the strongest candidates to this year’s Mister International pageant. Eight out of the nine favorites, are from the Old Continent, which, by the way, is looking for its first ever title. But which one of them will be Mister International 2010?

Britain: looks and brains – his environment project was considered to be one of the best

Bosnia & Herzegovina has a beautiful face, but his hair color does not look natural, which might hurt his chance to win.

Colombia, unquestionably the strongest bet from the Americas, photographs amazingly well and has one of the faces of the competition.

Denmark started really well, but looks a bit older than most delegates, which is not something necessarily negative – it will depend on what the judges are looking for.

France and Spain had huge favorites last year, got so close, and lost it to surprising Bolivia. Both are extremely strong once again, and their time might have arrived.

Slovenia has the face, the body, the charm. He could take it all.

Greece is another hot option, with a face that could be featured in any international major commercial campaign.

Finally, we have Great Britain and Ireland, both very handsome, with that “winner” look. Ireland has won the Mister World title earlier this year, and did very well in Miss Universe and Miss World. The Irish representative in Indonesia hopes to keep the streak going.

GB’s bet: Mister International 2010 will be one of these three: Great Britain, Greece or Ireland. Colombia is also strong and could give Latin America a third winner.

As the contestants keep rehearsing for what we are sure will be a great show, we wish all contestants the very best of luck! May the best one take the ultimate prize.
