Iryna Zhuravska will be the host contestant during the 58th Miss World contest in Kiev

KIEV -Iryna Zhuravska, 18, adjusts her crown after winning the "Miss Ukraine" beauty contest held at the Ukraine National Palace in Kiev April 23, 2008.

Iryna, a student and model from Kiev, stands 1.80 m tall and will join 110 other contestants to compete for the title of Miss World 2008, to take place in Ukraine next October.

She speaks Ukrainian and perfect English, and has been studying choreography for the past 10 years.

The 1st runner-up or "Vice Miss" was Oksana Ostrovska.

The jury of “Miss Ukraine-2008” included Olena Franchuk, founder of AntiAIDS Fund, Lilia Kuznetsova, chief of Miss Ukraine national committee, Natasha Korolyova, Russian singer of Ukrainian origin, Miss Ukraine-2007 Ksenia Kuzmenko, Kyiv Mayor’s adviser Kazbek Bektursunov, and others.

Twenty-six girls from all over Ukraine took part in the contest.
