Alexandra Helga Ívarsdóttir (photo, center), a 18-year old student from Reykjavik, was crowned Ungfru Island (Miss Iceland) 2008 during an event held on May 30th.

Alexandra will represent Iceland at the 2008 Miss World contest in Kiev, Ukraine, next October.

The 1st runner-up was 23-year old Ingibjörg Ragnheiður Egilsdóttir (photo, left). She will represent Iceland at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

The 2nd runner-up was 18-year old Sonja Björk Jónsdóttir (sitting, right). 21 contestants competed in the event.
