PAGEANT CAFE'S
SWEET SIXTEEN OF MISS WORLD 2007
*Not
the same as The Royal Flush

THE
PAGEANT CAFÉ is a private VIP chat room
consisting of pageant fans & fanatics, directors,
website masters, critics, coaches, trainers,
former beauty queens and others from the pageant
world. There's a maximum of 50 members and represent
every continent and region on the globe.
28
members of the Pageant Café, representing
17 countries (Belgium, USA, Canada, Mexico,
France, Italy, Finland, Czech Republic, Germany,
South Africa, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Philippines,
Vietnam, Singapore & Australia) tried their
best to maneuver around the seeming black hole
of information, the almost lack of viable video
footage, the scarcity of decent photographs
and the missing sashes that has been hallmark
of the 2007 Miss World Pageant in China to come
up with this working list of the best of over
100 women competing for this title.
Despite
having 2 Café members on the ground in
Sanya, this task has been more difficult than
choosing the results of a Miss International
Pageant and, as pageant aficionados, we are
simply perplexed and frustrated this year as
never before. Why the media blackout? What is
the MWO up to?
The
simple fact that less than 60% of our membership
(selectively capped at 50) attempted to vote,
with many declining due to lack of knowledge
or information of the competitors, or worse,
disinterest because of same, is…well,
sad. As pageants like Miss Earth and Miss Tourism
Queen rise in status, one must pause to ask,
is the “grande dame” of pageants
finally losing her grip?
Regardless,
crippled in our job as we are, we present to
you our selections -- a contest that we feel
boils down to a neck and neck race between Dominican
Republic and Chine PR, although almost any of
our Top 20 would make a great Miss World. But
from the tidbits of information we have been
able to obtain, this Miss World has a somewhat
“Universe-al” look to it!
