Señorita Colombia (Miss Universe Colombia) 2018

Colombia is ready to compete strongly in Miss Universe once again!

Eighteen candidates fought for the right to represent Colombia at Miss Universe 2018 during a live telecast event called Rumbo a Miss Universo 2018, or Destinantion Miss Universe, which took place yesterday.

After walking the runway in swimsuits and evening gowns, the group was narrowed down to 10 semi-finalist, who came out in evening gowns once again. They were Misses Antioquia, Cesar, Nariño, Quindío, Magdalena, Chocó, Bolívar, Valle , Cartagena, and Atlántico.

After that, the judges picked 5 young women who continued in the competition, and they were Isabella Atehortua Zapata (Antioquia), María Andrea Arango Isaza (Quindío), Valeria Morales Delgado (Valle del Cauca), Alma Beatriz Díaz Bonilla (Chocó) and Nathalia Marcela Blanco Mathieu (Cartagena).

After a round of interviews, the judges picked as Señorita Colombia 2018, or Miss Universe Colombia 2018, Valeria Morales Delgado, Miss Valle del Cauca. She was one of the two big favorites for the crown (the other one was Miss Quindio), which means that her victory was appreciated by most Colombian pageant followers.

The new queen is 20 years old, 1.73 m-tall, studies Social Communication and speaks fluent English.

Isabella Atehortúa, the 1st runner-up, shall travel to Poland, to compete in Miss Supranational 2018.

The 1st runner-up, or virreina nacional, is Isabella Atehortúa, Miss Antioquia, who performed really well in yesterday´s competition, deserving her spot in the Top 2. She is expected to represent Colombia at Miss Supranational 2018, in Poland (it must yet be confirmed by CNB).

Miss Chocó, Alma Beatriz Díaz Bonilla, was the 2nd runner-up.

The winner got her crown and sash from the hands of Laura González, vice-Miss Universe 2017.

Valeria will compete in Miss Universe 2018, in Bangkok, Thailand, on December 17th. Let´s remember that in the last 4 years Colombia placed in Miss U´s Top 3 incredible 4 times, including 1 winner, 2 first runner-ups, and 1 second runner-up. Can Valeria keep the streak going?
