History is being made in the Cayman Islands as the first independent Miss World Cayman Islands competition has been launched. The franchise for the autonomous British territory was awarded to Miss Cayman Islands 1992, Pamela Ebanks-Small, after the government decided to drop the license due to financial reasons. Women between the ages of 18 and 25 have been encouraged to enter before May 1st. Ms. Ebanks-Small stated that they are hoping to start "girl power" outreach programs to help prepare young women under the age of 18 for future competitions. The final of Miss World Cayman Islands will take place on September 8th and the organisers have decided to choose an environmental theme 'No Plastic, No Straws' for their Beauty With A Purpose program. Aspiring entrants can find more information at the pageant's newly launched webiste, www.missworldcayman.com
