Miss Grand Brazil 2019 is Marjorie Marcelle of São Paulo
In a night full of emotions and beauty, the state of São Paulo celebrated the victory of Marjorie Marcelle, elected Miss Grand Brazil 2019. The evening began with 20 candidates in a dance number choreographed by Raffael Rodrigues, followed by an individual parade with wine-colored dresses , celebrating the harvest season of the grapes in the region of Bento Gonçalves, the city where the contest took place.
Isabelle Pandini, Miss Grand Rio de Janeiro, won the first prize of the night: Miss Photogenic. She was chosen by the official photographers of the event, Leonardo Rodrigues and Gabriel Souza.
Soon, the Top 15 was announced: Minas Gerais, the winner of the popular vote, which happened at Cartão de Visita website, in news portal R7, was the first to be called. She received 54% of more than 40,000 votes (Amazonas placed 2nd). The other 14 were Ceará, Espírito Santo, Alagoas, Rio Grande do Sul, Sergipe, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Maranhão, Para, Paraíba, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná.
The 15 paraded in swimsuits to the sound of a song with Brazilian beat, lavishing charm and attitude on the catwalk. The representative from São Paulo won the swimsuit competition with a perfect 10: in the technical parade, which happened on Wednesday, she was mentioned among the 5 best by all the judges, earning 70 possible points in this part of the competition.
Besides the paulista, other 11 women remained in the competition, including Paraná, Paraná, Ceará, Maranhão, Rio Grande do Sul, Alagoas, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Pernambuco, Pará and Santa Catarina. They returned to the runway with spectacular evening dresses created by fashion designers from north to south of Brazil. The parade drew enthusiastic applause from the audience present at the Malbec hall, at the Dall'Onder Grande Hotel.
Nine of them would advance to a historic moment: the speech of peace. Misses Grand Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, Maranhão, Pernambuco, Espírito Santo, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and Ceará were the chosen ones.
What we saw next was a display of sensitivity and love, with messages that have passed depth and a lot of truth. As the theme of the contest is "Stop War and Violence", during their speeches the candidates touched on issues such as violence against women, blacks and homosexuals and the need to change the attitude of each individual to the evolution of our society. There has been a lot of talk about differences and minorities. They spoke in Portuguese and some also spoke English. They all wore white as a symbol of peace.
Only 5 beautiful girls would go to the final challenge, and the state representatives who accumulated the most points until that moment were:.Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais.
The final challenge was not an interview, as costumary. Developed in partnership with Instituto Você of Rio de Janeiro, in the final challenge each candidate drew one of the other finalists and, looking into her eyes, spoke about her competitor, imagining her as the winner of the contest. The statements excited the participants and audience present.
