The mythic Poliedro de Caracas, venue for dozens of spectacular Miss Venezuela finals´ television productions, gained live once again after 6 years without hosting a beauty pageant. Tonight it will host the first-ever Grand Slam pageant to happen in Venezuela: Miss Grand International!

Over 20,000 people will witness history in the making, as 60 of the world´s most beautiful young women hit the stage. A huge production, with most elements coming from the Dominican Republic, has been prepared for tonight´s show. Besides the live streaming at MGI´s Facebook page, TELEVEN, one of Venezuela´s top television channels, will broadcast it live to the entire country.

Hundreds of professionals are working backstage to make sure everything runs smoothly. Hair and make-up are under the responsibility of MGI´s excellent Thai production team.

“I decided to come to Venezuela to bring joy to the people of this country, one that I have great love and admiration for”, said Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International. “We did not get money or sponsorship from anyone in Venezuela. I know the country faces difficult economic times, so I decided to finance everything, and when I see how happy people are, that´s what matters to me”.

And happy Venezuelans are indeed. In all preliminary events, the people of Venezuela showed unconditional support to all countries´ representatives, leaving politics aside, as events of this nature are supposed to be.

Tonight´s winner will be the first to wear Miss Grand International´s new golden crown, created by Venezuelan jewelry designer, George Wittels. For the first time, the 4 runner-ups will also win crowns, all designed by Wittels.

The winner will also win a US$ 40,000.00 cash-prize and will move to Bangkok, Thailand, for one year, from where she will travel and visit some 15 countries and several Thai provinces, during her year as Miss Grand International.

I have much love for the MGI family and fans from around the world, thank you all”, Sosa told GB hours before a new Miss Grand International will be crowned.

Local musical starts will be part of tonight´s events and the presentation will be bilingual (English and Spanish).
