Miss Supranational 2019: Thailand wins
Anntonia Porsild, a half-Danish Thai beauty, was crowned Miss Supranational 2019 at the conclusion of the event held in Katowice, Poland. Antonia is 22 years old and a student at Stamford International University who advocates for body positivity.
Yana Haenisch of Namibia placed 2nd, Jesica Fitriana Martasari of Indonesia was 3rd, Janick Maceta Del Castillo of Peru placed 4th, and Gabriela De La Cruz of Venezuela completed the Top 5 in 5th place.
Yaiselle Lucia Tous Tejada of Colombia, Regina Gray of the USA, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau of Vietnam, Hana Vágnerová of the Czech Republic, and Krysthelle Barretto of Panama, were all Top 10 semi-finalists.
Among the Top 25 quarter-finalists were Avril Marco of Argentina, Jessica VanGaalen of Ireland, Hugrún Birta Egilsdóttir of Iceland, Yaliza Burgos of the Dominican Republic, Naomi Huth of Singapore, Shaleyka Cristine Vélez Aviles of Puerto Rico, Kamila Swierc of Poland, Eva Louise Wilson of New Zealand, Yia-Loren Gomez of Trinidad and Tobago, Dariana Giselle Urista Soto of Mexico, Shefali Sood of India, Andrea Radford of Guatemala, Resham Ramirez Saeed of Philippines, Angèle Kossinda of Cameroon, and Nathalie Yasmin Mogbelzada of the Netherlands.
There were many surprises in this year´s results, including the exclusion of some incredible black women from Africa and the Caribbean from the Top 25, like Equatorial Guinea, Barbados, Jamaica and Sierra Leone (perhaps the best in evening gown in the preliminary event). Super favorite Russia, in addition to Spain and Korea, were also left “in the ice”. It was also hard to understand why Misses Netherlands and Iceland did not advance to the top 5, and Colombia and Czech Republic stopping in the Top 10.
The stage, as usual, looked great, and the television production showed some improvement, like cutting to the Top 25 at the beginning of the show, which was a first for Miss Supranational.
In addition to USD 35.000 cash-prize, the winner won a 1-year-free-of-cost nice hotel apartment in Bangkok, Thailand. Isn´t she lucky?
