The 2020 Miss Universe Iceland beauty pageant took at Gamla Bíó, a few days ago. It was Elísabet Hulda Snorradóttir who won the title Miss Universe Iceland 2020 and will start to get ready to compete in Miss Universe 2020, (hopefully) early next year. A total of 15 candidates took part in the event, and during the competition, the contestants wore face masks due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dísa Dungal was the winner of the Miss Supernatural Iceland 2020/21 title and will travel to Poland in the second semester of 2021, having the responsibility to represent Iceland in Miss Supranational 2021.

“Words can’t describe how incredibly thankful I am to be able to be on this journey. The love and support I’ve received is overwhelming and I want to thank everyone who stood by me these past months and supported me through everything. I’m so excited to what’s to come in the future and I can’t wait to share it with all of you”, said Miss Universe Iceland in her Instagram account.

She succeeded Birta Abiba Þórhallsdóttir, who was a GB favorite to win the Miss Universe crown and performed extremely well, taking her country to the Top 10, Iceland´s best position in Miss U since 1980. Birta was also elected Miss Grand Slam 2019, as the best candidate in the international scenario last year.

Dísa Dungal, Miss Supranational Iceland for 2021, has the following to say:

“Many people are asking me what I'm feeling and I can't even begin to describe it. This year has been full of challenges and hard work but I've learned a lot and I always believed that whatever it would bring could only lead to greater things. I am feeling thankful”. Disa succeeded Hugrún Birta Egilsdóttir, another great Icelandic beauty queen who placed 11th in Miss Supranational, being a Top 25 quarter-finalist.

Congratulations!!

GB comment: Can Iceland keep the good momentum going? We find both candidates very charming and competitive, so we wish them much success!
