Miss Grand International will take place in March, in Thailand

Miss Grand International will be the first Grand Slam international pageant to take place since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Organizers have officially informed the media that Miss Grand International 2020 will be crowned on March 27th, in Thailand. Delegates from over 50 countries who have confirmed their participation in the pageant so far, will arrive in Bangkok on February 28th.

“We will adopt all the coronavirus protocol and recommendations by the WHO and the Thai government, making sure the candidates are safe” - Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International.

During the first two weeks, the candidates will go on quarantine. They will spend most of their time in their hotel rooms, taking part in on-line activities, such as interviews, a national gifts auction, and, of course, they will taste a variety of Thai dishes during mealtime. Thai cuisine is one of the most appreciated on the planet, and the organizers´ idea is that the candidates get the royal treatment, even when confined in their bedrooms.

The Welcome Ceremony Press Conference will take place on March 15th, and from then on, the national representatives will take part in a series of activities, including sightseeing in Bangkok, the host city, the Best in Swimsuit and Best National Costume contests, the all-important preliminary event, and of course, the big final, on March 27th.

Venezuela´s own Valentina Figueroa, the current Miss Grand International, one of the most active Grand Slam winners in 2020 (the situation in Thailand was safer than in most other countries, which allowed her to participate in a series of events within its territory), will be present in all relevant occasions during the 4-week-long contest.

“We will adopt all the coronavirus protocol and recommendations by the WHO and the Thai government, making sure the candidates as well our staff and guests are safe and get the necessary assistance when and if needed. We have prepared for the challenge and are ready to make history with this pageant”, said Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of MGI.
