A Press Conference for Miss Grand International 2020 took place earlier today in Bangkok, the host city for this year´s pageant. Thailand´s Minister of Tourism and Sports spoke during the conference, showing support for the event.

Some of the key points the president of MGI, Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, highlighted when addressing the public were:

  • The candidates (around 70 are expected, but the final number will be known only after arrivals, due to travel restrictions) must arrive in Bangkok on February 28th;

  • There will be 14 days of mandatory quarantine for all delegates and for whoever wishes to attend the event. Remote (online) activities will take place during that period of time;

  • The Show DC Hall will host the final show, on March 27th, as well as the preliminary event. This entertainment mega-complex combines spectacular entertainment facilities with a rich mix of retailing and food & beverage. We can expect a great show.

  • The Golden Tulip Sovereign is the official hotel for the pageant, where the candidates will stay during their quarantine, as well as during the 14 days of activities.

  • Venezuela may be the next host country (2021 edition), in case the pandemic is under control there and around the world. It is still to be confirmed.

Nawat also mentioned that Miss Grand International might be the only 2020 Grand Slam pageant to take place (Miss Universe has been trying to do it as well, but nothing has been confirmed yet). “We are working very hard to do it and hope for the best. We are also doing it for the pageant industry in general”, he said.

During the conference, presenters have invited the fans to subscribe to the Grand TV, on YouTube, once many of this year´s pageant activities and competitions will be live-streamed there.
