Concurso Nacional de Beleza 2017: new Miss Brazil World and Mister Brazil CNB are elected

ANGRA DOS REIS, August 12 -- Gabrielle Vilela (25), Miss Rio de Janeiro, was crowned Miss Brasil World 2017 during the annual event held at Hotel do Bosque in Angra dos Reis on August 12th, with the participation of 84 contestants (42 in the Miss category and 42 in the Mister category).

A student of advertising, this was Vilela's third attempt for the title, having competed in the 2013 and 2014 editions.  Standing 1.72 m in height, she will represent Brazil during the 67th Miss World finals to take place in Singapore, Malaysia and China this November.

The runner-ups were Miss Mato Grosso (Barbara Reis) and Miss Zona da Mata Mineira (Julia Horta).  The winner was crowned by Beatrice Fountoura and actress Suzy Rêgo, vice-Miss Brazil World 1984.

In the Mister category, the winner was 22-year old Matheus Richter Song, representing Caminho dos Principes (Santa Catarina).  With 1.82 m in height, Song is of Korean and German descent, and was also the winner of the Top Model competition. 

The runner-ups were Mister Rio Grande do Norte (Leonardo Nobre) and Mister Minas Gerais (Junior Garcia). 

The winners are expected to represent Brazil in competitions such as Mister Supranational, Mister International and Mister Global; since Mister Brazil CNB 2016, Carlos Franco, received his official sash that confirms him as the country's representative in the Mister World 2018 competition to be held in the month of April (TBC).  Photos by Leonardo Rodrigues
