Since 1999 Global Beauties elects the Grand Slam candidate with the best overall performance in the previous year. Competing for such honor this time, were the 423 young women who competed in Miss Grand International, Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss Universe and Miss World. It was a very competitive year, with some great winners, but our choice for Miss Grand Slam 2019 is, for the second consecutive year, a non-international Grand Slam pageant winner.

The 22nd Miss Grand Slam is Birta Abiba Þórhallsdóttir, Miss Universe Iceland and a Top 10 semi-finalist in Miss Universe 2019!

Birta, a 20-year-old model from Mosfellsbær with Congolese descent, won the hearts of thousands of fans around the world with her warm personality and natural beauty. She represents a new era of “globalized beauty” when stereotypes give place to a celebration of the unique, of all kinds of backgrounds, it doesn´t matter where a contestant hails from and her ethnic background, or the country she represents.

Birta told the media that she faced episodes of racism and bullying when growing up, but yet, she remained a happy young woman, inspired others in a very positive way. In addition to all that, this Icelandic stunner was always spontaneous when competing in Miss Universe, something so rare in beauty pageants today.

The other Top 5 finalists, all amazing and beyond beautiful young women, were: Evelyn Namatovu, Miss International Uganda 2019, Madison Berrios, Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Toni-Ann Singh, Miss World Jamaica and Miss World 2019, and Zozibini Tunzi, Miss Universe South Africa and Miss universe 2019.

Congratulations, Birta! You are MISS GRAND SLAM 2020!!!
