The 20th edition of the oldest-running international male beauty pageant, Manhunt International, took place in the Philippines on Saturday, February 22nd. After 5 days of activities, the 36 candidates hailing from all continents took the stage hoping to become the first Grand Slam (male or female) winner of the new decade, and the judges´ choice was not surprising: Paul Luzineau of the Netherlands, always a big favorite, took gold. He´s the first Dutchman to have won a major men´s beauty title.

Paul hails from Gorinchem, works as a model and is a big fan of football. He has won a gold ring and a modeling contract with Manhunt International.

The event took place at the New Frontier Theatre, Araneta City, Cubao. Rosko Dickinson, co-creator and producer of the pageant, announced the final results, which included Nikos Antonopoulos of Greece, 1st runner-up, Matheus Giora of Brazil, 2nd runner-up, Yeray Hidalgo of Spain, 3rd runner-up, and Mayur Gangwani of India, 4th runner-up.

Semi-finalists came from Paraguay (Mister Popularity), Vietnam, Sweden, Australia, Thailand, United Kingdom, Turkey, Poland, Sri Lanka, UAE, and the Philippines.

Countries that usually do well in male pageants and former Manhunt International winners, such as Venezuela, China, and the United States, were not represented in this year´s competition.

The pre-pageant activities were quite entertaining, with the 36 candidates having the opportunity to experience some of the local cultures, visiting major tourist attractions and enjoying the beach. The final event´s production was rather simple in terms of stage, lights, and choreography, which is explained by the general lack of sponsorship and support for male pageants.

The candidates competed in underwear, swimwear, and tuxedo rounds. There was no interview competition in the final event. Results were fair and within the expected by the specialized media and pageant followers.
